Femasculinity Reversed.Prada Menswear SS15.

I don't usually review catwalks on this blog - apart from the one I'm able to attend in Rome and London - but the Prada SS15 menswear collection does deserve to be mentioned, not only because every season she creates a stir in the fashion world/bubble but above all because I've seen in action on the runaway one the themes that were displayed in the Pradasphere exhibition at Harrods last month: Femasculinity.

Di solito non faccio recensioni delle sfilate sul blog - a parte quelle a cui posso partecipare a Roma e Londra - ma la collezione uomo SS15 di Prada merita di essere menzionata, non solo perche' ogni stagione riesce a 'reiventare la ruota' ma sopratutto peche' ho visto in azione sulla passerella uno dei temi che ho visto esposti alla mostra Pradasphere ai magazzini Harrods lo scorso mese: Femasculinity.


The twist of the theme though is that the collection was a gender neutral and not an appropriation of tailoring and men's style by women; a mutual appropriation basic garments as jumpers, jackets, denim and shirts.In pure Prada style, if you look at the video of the show or even just the sequence of looks in pictures, she  leads you into an intellectual journey: at first you think that she has thrown in the odd female model as per usual these days, then you start noticing that womenswear is almost every other look and bang at the centre of the show there a sequence of six looks - 15 to 10 - in which men and female models wear exactly the same outfits. That's the key and the mood of the whole collection.

Tuttavia lo storpiamento di tale concetto e' nel aver creato una collezione di genere neutro e non l'approrpriazione da parte dell'abbigliameo donna della sartorialita' e dello stile classico maschile; un'appropriazione a vicenda piuttosto, di capi basic dalla maglieria alle giacche, dal denim alle camicie.In puro stile Prada, se guardate il video della sfilata o anche solo la sequenza dei look in foto, Miuccia ci fa fare un viaggio intellettuale: all'inizio ssi pensa che abbia messo qualche look moda donna qui e la come da prassi, poi ci si accorge che questi look  escono quasi uno dopo l'altro fino a culminare nei sei look centrali - dal 15 al 20 - con modelli e modelle che indossano esattamente lo stesso outfit. Questa e' la chiave ed il mood di tutta la collezione.



 There were also lots of classic menswear Prada suits, coats and shirts to be seen and hopefully the so called 'fashionistas' of the fashion week will have taken notes and will start to dress with more taste and authenticity in the very next future.
-------------------------Ci sono anche molti capi da uomo in stile Prada - completi, cappotti e camicie - e speriamo che i cosi' detti 'fashionisti' della fashion week abbiano preso nota e cominceranno in un futuro non molto lontano a vestirsi con piu' stile ed autenticita'.
