Florentjin Hofman

Ho letto da poco un’intervista all’artista olandese Florentjin Hofman su Yatzer e vorrei riproporre qualche immagine del suo lavoro. Il titolo dell’articolo era “Think big” e si riferisce alle sue opere urbane sempre piuttosto ingombranti.
Spesso hanno durata breve, come le “slow slugs” di Anversa, ma il loro effetto sulle persone è sempre gratificante per l’artista. In questo caso sono stati utilizzati 40.000 sacchetti di plastica per un’opera di soli 3 giorni che aveva il significato di far riflettere sulla mortalità e la decadenza, ma anche sull’inquinamento e sul consumismo.
La costruzione e la demolizione di queste opere sono entrambe fasi previste, quindi la nostalgia fa parte del gioco artistico.

I have just read an interview to the Dutch artist Florentjin Hofman on Yatzer and I would like to suggest some pics of his work. The article title is “Think big”, referring to his big size urban sculptures.
They often do not have a long life, as it happened with his “slow slugs” in Anverse, but their effect on people is always gratifying for the artist. 40.000 plastic bags used for a three-day installation about mortality, decay and pollution in a commercialized society.
Both building and demolition are part of the process and the artistic game includes missing some of these works.
