Giambattista Valli, the Italian Designer that Achives "Haute Couture" Appellation

Giambattista Valli, the Italian designer, has been granted the official "haute couture" appellation after his debut on the Parisian Haute Couture shows last july, the Chambre Syndicale, French fashion’s governing body, upgraded Valli from guest member of its couture calendar to an official member,  in a meeting on Dec. 16. Valli, born in Rome 45 years ago, will show his collection during Paris Haute Couture week on January. according to the official rules, would have had to wait five years before being eligible for an official haute couture appellation, but his track record was considered strong enough for early qualification, said Didier Grumbach, president of the Chambre Syndicale. Boasting a wonderful atelier, showroom and a boutique just off the Place de la Madeleine, Valli has established himself as a go-to guy for Europe’s social set, with bridal and private couture orders representing a healthy chunk of his business. “It was clear from his show [in July] that he has caught the attention of a new generation of customers, and he immediately took important orders for his couture,” Grumbach noted. “So it’s true that the haute couture appellation gives him legitimacy, but objectively speaking, he is already part of the system.” As Italians we couldn't be more happy for Valli, after great designers like Riccardo Tisci (Givenchy), Valentino, Armani Prive' and Versace that will show their collections in Paris during the high fashion week by bringing the made in Italy around the world.

Valli, romano, 45 anni, sfilerà dunque a gennaio nel calendario ufficiale dell'alta moda parigina. In Francia, la denominazione "haute couture" è giuridicamente protetta: per ottenerla bisogna aspettare cinque anni e soddisfare un certo numero di criteri, ma i suoi record hanno fatto si che venisse velocizzato il processo di qualificazione, ha dichiarato Didier Grumbach, presidente della Chambre Syndicale. Vantando di un meraviglioso atelier, showroom e boutique in Place de la Madeleine, Valli e' diventato il nuovo il ragazzo da cui tutti si recano nel jet set europeo, per farsi fare abiti da sposa o privati che rappresentano un bel giro d'affari.
"E' stato chiaro sin dalla sua sfilata [a luglio] che ha catturato l'attenzione di una nuova generazione di consumatori e immediatamente ha preso ordini importanti per la sua collezione Couture." ha detto Grumbach. "E' vero che la denominazione dell'Haute Couture gli da legittimiata', ma ogettivamente parlando, lui fa gia' parte del sistema." Insomma un altro vanto per il Made in Italy dopo Riccardo Tisci (Givenchy), Valentino, Armani Prive' e Versace che sfileranno nella settimana dell'alta moda e che portano alto il nome dell'Italia nel mondo.
