Goodbye ann

It will come to an end tomorrow, at the Couvent des Cordeliers in Paris, where there will be the last fashion show signed by Ann Demeulemeester. Last November infact the Belgian designer has confirmed with an hand-written letter, her decision to leave the brand (for personal reasons).

The owner of the brand will remain her husband – Patrick Robyn – but the concrete future of the brand is uncertain because at the moment no-one has been appointed as a new designer.

Ann with her bohemian style, is part of the Antwerp Six group (the Six from Anversa) with Van Beirendonck, Dirk Bikkembergs, Marina Yee, Dirk Van Saene, and Dries Van Noten. Another geniuos that says goodbye.

Si concluderà domani all’una, a Parigi al Couvent des Cordeliers, l’ultima sfilata di Ann Demeulemeester disegnata dall’omonima designer. Lo scorso novembre, infatti, con una lettera scritta a mano e firmata anonimamente con una ‘x’, la stilista belga ha lasciato la sua griffe, fondata nel 1985 ad Anversa, per motivazioni personali.

La proprietà del marchio è rimasta al marito Patrick Robyn e alla managing director Anne Chapelle, ma l’uscita della designer segna la fine di una storia e forse anche di un brand dato che al momento non è in programma la nomina di un successore.

La Demeulemeester, con il suo stile bohemien, faceva parte  insieme agli altri cinque stilisti connazionali del gruppo degli ‘Antwerp Six’, ‘i Sei di Anversa’: Walter Van Beirendonck, Dirk Bikkembergs, Marina Yee, Dirk Van Saene e Dries Van Noten che hanno condiviso la visione di una moda rivoluzionaria, senza compromessi.
