(ENG) In this second album, the British band smooths the roughness of the previous "The Heritage" (2008), focusing on finding a balanced but rich sound. Her Name Is Calla interpret the post-rock in an orchestral manner, playing soundtracks as Early Day Miners would do, but with a poetic and dramatic tension that the Daniel Burton's band has never reached. The trick (not very original, actually) of alternating strokes of subsonic guitar with noisy bursts of strings (A Blood Promise) or percussions (Pour More Oil) is used with great skill. The long Condor And River is introduced by a thin guitar (which runs in the parts of The Curtain Hits The Cast) and then leaded to an orgy of distortion and closed in a lament with piano and horn in aThom Yorke's style. The epic tripartite suite The Union, characterized by a crescendo of feedback and oriental echoes, closes the album. A few moments could be filed, but, despite the length (75 minutes), The Quiet Lamb remains one of the most interesting records of the year.
