how to use “Shall”

Firstly, have a look at the following conversation between Dan and Gemma:

Dan: Hey, Gemma! What time shall we meet today?Gemma: Around 2 o'clock. Is that OK? Shall I invite Eric too? Dan: Yes, I'd like to see him again.Dan: Shall I come pick you up from work? It will be easier that way.Gemma: Great! See you then!
Gemma: Perfetto! A dopo! * Are you going to study a master's degree after this? * Yes, I shall / Yes, I will. I've always intended to do so. * Oh, yes please, it is very hot.
* You shall not / will not go out until you have finished your homework!* I shan't / will not / won't be long at the bank.
* Non starò in banca molto tempo.
* ¡Non te ne andrai finchè non avrai finito i tuoi compiti! * Sì, per favore, fa molto caldo.
* Sì. Ho sempre voluto farlo.
* Dopo studierai un master?
Dan: Ti passo a prendere dopo il lavoro? Sarà più facile così.

As you can see, we use " shall" for offers and suggestions. " Shall" is a more formal way of making offers or suggestions. We could also use the words "should" for an offer or "I will" for affirmations.
Come puoi vedere, "shall" si usa per offrire e suggerire qualcosa. "Shall" è un modo più formale di fare offerte o dare suggerimenti. Si possono usare anche "should" per le offerte o "I will" per le affermazioni.

Look at these examples:

For negative sentences we can say " shall not" which means "will not" or the even older and less common form " shan't".
Per le frasi negative possiamo dire "shall not", che vuol dire "will not", oppure si può usare la forma più antica e meno comune "shan't".
