Impressionism and Fashion - Paris Exhibition

Sono appena tornato da tre giorni e due notti a Parigi :-) Il motivo della visita? La mostra 'L'Impressionismo e la Moda' al Musee D'Orsay il 20 gennaio. Tutti conosciamo, abbiamo visto o per lo meno studiato gli impressionisti e ne abbiamo un'infarinata ma c'e un aspetto su cui mai nessuno ha fatto luce: la moda. La bellezza di questa mostra infatti sta in una rilettura fresca dei dipinti basata sul rapporto tra la moda di fine '800, l'emergere dei primi grandi magazzini, delle riviste di moda ed il lavoro degli impressionisti. Non staro' qui a spiegarvi passo passo la mostra ma vi presento dei flash fotografici presi dal catalogo che ho acquistato - purtroppo le foto non erano permesse! - e da immagini di comunicato stampa che ho trovato. La prossima volta che vi trovate davanti ad un quadro impressionista, oltre ad ammirarne la tecnica pittorica, da bravi fashionisti, fate anche caso a cio' che i soggetti indossano: nel 99% dei casi riflette fedelmente la moda dell'epoca, con accuratezza di dettagli sia degli 'outfit' che della resa della luce sui tessuti. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I just got back from a three days/two nights trip in Paris :-) The reason of my visit? The exhibition 'Impressionism and Fashion' at the Musee D'Orsay till January the 20th. We all know, saw or at least studied at school the impressionists and we do know the basics about them. but there's an element that's never been explored before: fashion. The great things abouth this exhibition, infact, is in a fresh reading of these painting based on the relationship between fashion of the late '800, the burth of the first department stores, fashion magazines and the Impressionists work. Not going to tell you about the exhibition step by step but I'm showing you some photographic 'flashes' taken from the catalogue that I bought - unfortunately it was not allowed to take pics in there! - and some press release pics. Next time that you look at an Imperssionist painting, admire not only the painting technique, but also, as a good fashionista, what the subjects are wearing: 99%of them reflect the fashion of the period, with accuracy not only of the 'outfits' but also the reflection of light on the fabrics.
