Mi vengono alla mente tante cose: i racconti del Mahabharata, l’India antica, i regali al Bambino Gesù, il silenzio delle chiese dove l’incenso si spande tra le arcate romaniche e gotiche – il fumo dell’incenso è simbolo delle preghiere che si alzano al cielo e l’incensiere è un attributo dei santi diaconi Lorenzo e Stefano.
La pianta è molto bella, direi quasi ornamentale.

C’è da fare una precisazione: il vero incenso non deriva da questa pianta, ma dalla resina prodotta dall’albero di Boswellia sacra (che è l’albero più pregiato di tutti per la produzione dell’incenso).
