La Chiesa anglicana ha annunciato la pubblicazione di tre preghiere dedicate espressamente ai Mondiali di calcio del Sudafrica. Due sono per il bene generale di tutti i partecipanti mentre la terza è pensata per chi semplicemente non si interessa del torneo. Nello specifico, la prima è per tutti quelli che saranno coinvolti nei mondiali, in veste di tifosi, calciatori o in qualsiasi altro ruolo; l’altra per il Sudafrica che ospiterà il campionato e infine l’ultima per coloro che dovranno subire il costante bombardamento calcistico. Le orazioni sono adatte tanto per un uso privato, che per pregare nelle chiese.«Più della metà della popolazione prega ogni tanto» - ha detto il vescovo di Croydon Nick Baines, tifoso del Liverpool, che ha collaborato alla formulazione delle orazioni.Il vescovo continua al 'Times' - «Tutti, in un modo o nell'altro, saranno toccati dai mondiali. Ecco perché è importante avere delle preghiere per chi le vorrà usare». Insomma, oltre che una competizione sportiva corretta dovrà essere un'occasione di armonia tra le nazioni partecipanti: «Non riguarda solo il calcio - ha aggiunto Baines - Si tratta anche di tutte le nazioni del mondo, che festeggeranno insieme al popolo sudafricano».Mentre nelle preghiere per chi seguirà i Mondiali si chiede «salute e partite pulite», nei discorsi per i non simpatizzanti si chiede di «avere pazienza». «Signore ora che nel nostro quartiere tutti sono presi dalla febbre del calcio, concedici comprensione, fortificaci con pazienza e concedici il regalo dell'empatia quando ne abbiamo bisogno. Amen». La Chiesa anglicana ha già pubblicato altre volte orazioni per temi della vita quotidiana, per persone che hanno un problema familiare o che devono presentarsi ad un esame.
