Interview to: That Old Trend!

Mr J is the blogger from "That Old Trend" and the winner of the contest "Guess and win!"In his blog you can find not only his everyday outfits, but also photos about trends and reviews of fashion events.I think he shows an amazing casual style, perfect for teenagers and generally for guys!I've also asked him some questions and I find the interview really interesting because he's similiar to me and, I think, to a lot of other guys who love fashion.
Mr j è il blogger di "That Old Trend" e vincitore del contest "Guess and win!"Nel sui blog potrete trovare non solo i suoi outfits quotidiani, ma anche foto degli ultimi trends e commenti riguardo ad eventi mondani.Penso che egli sia un esempi di look casual, perfetto per i teenagers e in generale per i ragazzi!Gli ho anche posto diverse domande (trovate la traduzione in italiano in fondo al post) e penso che sia molto interessante perchè trovo che sia un ragazzo simile a me e a molti altri che amano la moda.


ME: How old are you and why have you approached to fashion? MR J: I'm 20 years old and started to approach to fashion when I was about 13 years old. At that age I was really into dark, gothic rock and Japanese rock which wore weird but amazing outfits so I was always drawing and desiring to create similar outfits for myself. Luckily with the time I changed, I think when I was 15 I found out more of the real fashion world, incredibly the film "The Devil Wears Prada" was like the doors of heaven to me because all the scenes showing different designer clothes and the Paris trip for fashion week made me think, god I want that life. Since then, I started reading more and more fashion magazines like Vogue, looking at websites, getting inspired in music and increasing the size of my closet. In 2008 I went to Paris for the first time in my life and my passion for fashion went to another level, I found out amazing stores which you would never find in Chile and could see by myself all that great people walking in the streets. Since then I knew I would never stop loving fashion.

ME: Why have you decided to open this blog and what does fashion mean for you? MR J: I have seen that many people open their way to fashion with blogs, like Andy Torres of Stylescrapbook.com and many more. I really want to get noticed and make my blog very famous in order to be invited to fashion shows and travel all over the world, I know it's a crazy dream but what's life without dreams? I think that fashion means a LOT to me because it's a way to express myself and I think it is crucial in any culture to have ways to dress and identify themselves
so I see it as an expression of art and culture.

ME: What inspires you everyday and how can you describe your style? MR J: What inspire me everyday is Lookbook.nu, I can see real people wearing clothes which usually I can afford, amazing people with a great sense of style. I often find many things that I want to wear or styles that I would like to play with. I would say that I don't have a specific style because I don't want to open opportunities just because I think a style or things fits me better than others, but I like preppy garments like blazers, cardigans, shirts and trousers but also denim, Chucks and vintage things so if I would have to describe my style it would be: "When preppy nerd meets grunge" haha.

Ecco l'intervista in italiano; vi fornisco una traduzione fatta da me.IO: Quanti anni hai e perchè ti sei avvicinato al mondo della moda?MR J: Ho 20 anni e ho iniziato ad avvicinarmi alla moda quando avevo circa 13 anni. A quell'età ero davvero fissato con lo stile dark, rock/gotico e J-rock, che prevedeva un abbigliamento bizzarro ma strabiliante, così continuavo a disegnare e a desiderare di creare simili outfits per me. Fortunatamente con il tempo sono cambiato, attorno ai 15 anni ho scoperto di più riguardo al reale mondo della moda, incredibilmente il film "Il diavolo veste Prada" fu come le porte del paradiso per me perchè tutte le scene mostravano abiti di differenti stilisti e il viaggio a Parigi durante la settimana della moda mi ha fatto pensare "Voglio quella vita". Da allora, ho iniziato a leggere sempre più riviste di moda come Vogue, a visitare siti, ad essere ispirato dalla musica e ad aumentare le dimensioni del mio armadio. Nel 2008 sono stato a Parigi per la prima volta nella mia vita e la mia passione per la moda si è elevata ad un altro livello, ho scoperto meravigliosi negozi che non si possono trovare in Cile e ho potuto vedere con i miei occhi tutte quelle persone famose che camminavano per le strade. Da allora mi sono accorto che non avrei mai smesso di amare la moda.
IO: Perchè hai deciso di aprire questo blog e come significa la moda per te?MR J: Ho notato che molte persone condividono il loro modo di interpretare la moda attraverso i loro blog, come Andy Torres di Stylescrapbook.com e molti altri. Vorrei veramente essere notato e rendere il mio blog davvero famoso così da essere invitato alle sfilate di moda e viaggiare per tutto il monfo, so che è un sogno folle, ma cos'è la vita senza i sogni? Penso che la moda significhi molto per me perchè è un modo di esprimere me stesso e penso che sia fondamentale in ogni cultura per avere una perculiarità nel vestire e identificare se stessi, così la vedo come un' espressione di arte e cultura.
IO: Cosa ti ispira ogni giorno e come descriveresti il tuo stile?MR J: Ciò che ispira quotidianamente è Lookbook.nu, posso vedere persone reali che indossano abiti che di solito posso anche io permettermi, persone formidabili con uno spiccato senso dello stile. Spesso trovo molte cose che vorrei indossare o stili con cui mi piacerebbe giocare. Non penso di avere uno stile ben delineato perchè non voglio precludermi delle opportunità solo perchè sono convinto che uno stile o certi capi mi stiano meglio di altri, ma mi piacciono vestiti preppy come blazers, cardigans, magliette e pantaloni, ma anche il denim, articoli Chuck e vintage, così se dovessi descrivere il mio stile direi:"Quando il preppy nerd incontra il grunge" haha.
