Ipek arnas

YOUR FASHION CHIC è lieta di presentarvi una designer eccezionale: Ipek Arnas. Amo le sue creazioni, la ringrazio infinitamente per la disponibilità avuta e per la semplicità, è una cosa molto importante per me. Oltre ad essere una grande stilista è anche uno dei finalisti dell’ International Woolmark Prize – il famosissimo concorso di scouting che scopre i nuovi talenti nella moda , tra questi ha lanciato talenti in erba come Yves Saint Laurent e Karl Lagerfeld – un talento eccezionale, lei è: Ipek Arnas.

Dopo aver conseguito il diploma in economia, ha deciso di cambiare il suo cammino, orientandosi verso qualcosa di creativo. Ha frequentato l’Accademia Internazionale Lasalle per intraprendere una carriera in fashion design. Dopo la sua laurea ha iniziato a lavorare in un’azienda tessile, concentrandosi sul casulawear autentico. E’ anche designer freelance per la boutique Kumpanya 62 che si trova in Nisantasi, a Istanbul. Oltre a creare le sue collezioni per il suo brand, crea in modo indipendente  capi per marchi come Nako, per il quale ha creato la collezione Autunno/Inverno 2011. Progettare per la maglieria è una forte passione di Ipek Arnas, in quanto le piace molto combinare idee di arti e mestieri in maniera sbarazzina. Ipek vuole produrre qualcosa di unico e all’avanguardia, per contestare questa tendenza. Ipek Arnas sostiene che «il design e la qualità del capo che indossiamo, mostra la nostra posizione nella vita sociale e chiarisce le nostre scelte ». Quello che sta cercando di fare la designer è combinare la qualità con disegni unici, che possono essere casually.

Ipek Arnas was born in 1984, has been living in İstanbul since then. After getting her diploma in economics, she decided to change her path towards something creative .She attended Lasalle International Academy for a future in fashion design. Upon graduation she started working in a textile company focusing on authentic casualwear. She’s also a freelance designer for the unique concept boutique Kumpanya 62 which is located in Nisantası, one of the points in İstanbul where fashion flourishes. Her interests in vintage fashion, retro music, surreal art, japanese culture and her love of cats paved the way for her to create a brand that is solely based on her own taste. Her brand is made of garments that are not to be found in many places which have a quirky style. She named the brand after one of the mostly used knitting techniques “Knit 1 Purl 2″ as in Turkish “2 Ters 1 Duz”.Besides her collections for 2 Ters 1 Duz, she creates independently for brands, such as Nako, a yarn manufacturer for which she created a special 2011 Fall-Winter collection.

Designing for knitwear is a strong passion of mine. For me it’s like creating wearable sculptures from yarn since i love combining ideas from arts and crafts in a saucy fashion.In these days when fast fashion is a rising trend, i want to produce something avantgarde and unique, in order to challenge this trend. I take day to day dressing very seriously and believe that a good styling is not only necessary for special occasions. The design  and the quality of the garment  we wear shows our standing in social life and clarifies our choices. Because today fashion is consumed within short periods, the quality drops to  meet the demands of mass production. Therefore what i’m trying to do is combining the quality with unique designs that can be wearable casually.I think a design should contain  over the top ideas with a wearable silhouette.I believe this is what i’ve succeded with my collections from the beginning.
