Is Simons Replacing Galliano at Dior?

Belgian fashion designer Raf Simons is said to be working on a deal to become the new creative director of Christian Dior, replacing John Galliano. The contract is yet to be concluded, with the house and the 43-year-old designer still rumoured to be discussing his start date and the finer details of his contract with Jil Sander - which is currently the creative director of Milan-based fashion label. During the recent catwalk shows in September, gossip circulated that Simons might replace Stefano Pilati at Yves Saint Laurent. But if reports by WWD are true, the move may mark a change in Dior's design aesthetic. Infact,  Simons is known for his minimal, futuristic, modern looks. If he became creative director at Dior, he would also be responsible for the twice-yearly haute couture collections, but it is highly unlikely that he would be able to produce the spring/summer 2012 collection, scheduled to be shown in Paris at the end of January.

Il contratto fra la casa di moda e il 43enne stilista deve ancora concludersi, circolano voci che i due si stiano mettendo d'accordo sulla data d'inizio e sulla fine del contratto con Jil Sander, di cui e' attualmente il direttore creativo. Durante le ultime sfilate di settembre a Parigi, sono circolati gossip che volevano Simons alla guida di Yves Saint Laurent al posto di Stefano Pilati. Ma se la notizia del WWD fosse confermata, lo spostamento potrebbe segnare un cambiamento nel look estetico di Dior. Infatti, Simons e' conosciuto per i suo abiti minimal, futuristi e moderni. Qualora prendesse il timone di Dior, sarebbe anche responsabile della linea che sfila due volte l'anno di Haute Couture, ma e' poco probabile che Simons sia riuscito a creare la collezione Primavera/Estate 2012, in calendario a Parigi per la fine di Gennaio.
