Tiny or big? It's not different
Dimenticate le mostre di bellezza: fare jogging con il cane è salutare per entrambi e rafforza il rapporto tra uomo e animale, ma se volete tirare fuori qualcosa in più dal vostro amico a quattro zampe, ci sono diverse discipline sportive: obedience, difesa, disc dog (il frisbee con il cane, divertimento assicurato!), orienteering, caccia, salvataggio et cetera.
Oltre all’aspetto puramente competitivo e ludico, queste tipologie di addestramento servono a mettere appunto le tecniche per la formazione ”professionale” di cani da ricerca, antidroga ed esplosivi, ma anche di cani da pet therapy o per disabili.
L’errore più comune in cui si cade, spesso, è però pensare che certi cani non siano in grado di imparare dei comandi di questo tipo e quindi non possano divertirsi con i propri padroni, anche nel parco vicino casa. Ludvig, il cane che vedrete nel video (dopo la parte in inglese) sta svolgendo brillantemente degli esercizi di defense per preparare una gara.
Ludvig è un chihuahua di pochi chili. É piccolo, ma è obbediente, preciso e grintoso come i suoi colleghi pastori. Ludvig è l’esempio che mi gratifica: quando il mostrino è entrato in casa, era un cucciolone scalmanato e poco educato. Ma con pazienza e tenacia, ora la sua ansia da abbandono sta sparendo, si siede a comando e riporta la palla.
Alla faccia di quelli che mi dicevano che sarebbe stato impossibile insegnare qualcosa a una pulce come lui, solo perché è mezzo chihuahua!

Forget the exhibitions of beauty for dogs: jogging with your dog is healthy for both as well as strengthens the relationship between man and animal. There are also several sports if you want to bring out something more in your pet: obedience, defense, disc dog (that is frisbee with the dog, totally fun!), orienteering, hunting, rescue et cetera.
In addition to purely competitive and fun aspects these types of training are intended to refine the techniques for “professional” training for sniffer/police/retriever dogs, but also for pet therapy or dogs for invalid people .
The most common mistake that some people make, however, is to think that some dogs are not able to learn this kind of orders and therefore cannot have fun with their humans partners, even at the park with no competition.
Ludvig, the dog you see in the video below, is doing a brilliant defense exercises preparing himself for a race.
Ludvig is a few-libres chihuahua. Even if he’s small, is obedient and accurate just like his fellow sheep dogs. Ludvig is the proof that gratifies me: when the little monster came into our house he was a rowdy rude puppy. But thanks to our patience and perseverance, his abandoned syndrome and his anxiety are disappearing, he sits on command and retrieves the ball.
In spite of those who told me that it would be impossible to teach something to a flea like him, just because he is half-chihuahua!
