Immagino che alcuni di voi abbiano notato nei mesi scorsi quel simbolino con la luna che è comparso qui a lato del blog, e suppongo che alcuni di voi abbiano anche seguito il link e cominciato a seguirci sulla nostra pagina Facebook. Se anche già pensate di sapere di cosa sto parlando, la verità è che quella pagina condivisa è solo la punta di un iceberg, e che Le Oniriche sono molto, molto di più…I assume that some of you noticed the sign with the moon that appeared on the side of this blog on the past months, and I assume that some of you even followed the link and begun to follow our Facebook page. If you think you already know what I want to talk you about, well you’re wrong, the Facebook page of Le Oniriche is like the bottom of a iceberg, there’s a lot more underneath…Le Oriniche sono un vero e proprio gruppo di lavoro artistico, creatosi spontaneamente, e ha già un anno di età. Gioconda Pieracci di Pupillae Art Dolls e Alessia Rossi di The Scarlet Lace sono le persone con cui condivido ogni giorno passioni, ispirazioni, informazioni, dubbi, idee, gioie e dolori della nostra professione (compreso il fatto che ancora faccio fatica a parlare della mia ‘professione’ senza usare le virgolette).Le Oniriche is the name we gave to our artistic workgroup – it means something like ‘dream/dreamers creatures’, it’s impossible to translate it – and it came about that it was made, without any plan, and it’s now a reality since more than a year. Gioconda Pieracci, the artist behind Pupillae Art Dolls, and Alessia Rossi, the artist behind The Scarlet Lace, are the colleagues and friends with whom I share each and every day passions, inspirations, information, worries, ideas, happy and sad moments of our profession (including the fact that I still have difficulties to write ‘profession’ without using the quotation marks).Devo loro moltissimo di quello che ho fatto, e continuo a fare. Certo, siamo diverse e lavoriamo con materiali diversi, e proprio per quello amo scherzare dicendo che loro riescono a realizzare quella parte di sogni che non stanno in un sasso, o in foglio di carta. Qualunque cosa si voglia ottenere o imparare, è una pura illusione poter pensare di essere dei geni, e poter fare tutto da soli. Le Oniriche sono la mia più grande risorsa, e le uniche persone che conosco che posso capire veramente cosa sto facendo.I owe them so much I’ve done so far, and so much of what I’m keeping on doing. Of course, we’re different and we work with different materials, and that’s the reason why I love to say that my friends can give shape to all those dreams which doesn’t fit into a stone or a piece of paper. Whatever you want to get or learn, it is an illusion to think that you can manage everything alone. Le Oniriche are one of my biggest resources, the only people who really know everything behind my creations.Le Oniriche sono anche, irrimediabilmente, collaborazioni. Ve ne ho parlato lo scorso ottobre, quando ho realizzato con Gioconda le bambole in miniatura accompagnate dal biglietto, e in queste pagine potete vedere il capolavoro a cui stanno lavorando le mie amiche: una Giulietta in feltro (voi non lo sapete, ma è lavorata con un singolo ago), con un abito realizzato al chiaccherino dalle incredibili mani di Alessia. I nostri mondi immaginari finiscono irrimediabilmente per sconfinare l’uno nell’altro, e abbiamo ancora tante idee in mente…Oniriche also means, of course, collaborations. I told you about the doll-card sets I made together with Gioconda last October, and in this page you can see the masterpiece my friends are working on: a needle-felted Juliet (needle-felted with one single needle!), with an handmade tatting lace dress made by incredible hands of Alessia. Our imaginary worlds inevitably mix up, and we have so many ideas in mind……ma la pagina Facebook, cosa c’entra, visto che noi in quanto artiste non compariamo quasi mai? La vetrina che abbiamo organizzato ci serve a raccogliere idee, è una fonte d’ispirazione e, soprattutto, è un manifesto, il nostro modo per diffondere l’amore per l’handmade. Me ne avete sentito parlare fino alla nausea nelle Handmade Wishlist (che ho smesso di scrivere, ormai ce ne sono in giro in fin troppe e non attirano più l’attenzione) di quanto sia importante difendere il fatto a mano perché rappresenta un modo alternativo (e vecchio come il mondo) di rapportarsi ai metodi di produzione, un modo alternativo di comprare e possedere gli oggetti che ci circondano, un modo per affermare la nostra unicità in un mondo dove ormai si incontrano sempre e solo le stesse marche in ogni luogo.Siamo in un mondo che dimentica l’importanza del lavoro di gruppo, il rispetto del lavoro, l’importanza delle relazioni tra individui e tra individui e cose. Mia madre mi ha sempre ripetuto che saranno i filosofi alla fine, a salvare il mondo - e noi ci crediamo.So then what’s the point of the Facebook page, since we almost don’t have any room for our artworks in it? The showcase we created helps us to collect ideas and inspirations, but most importantly, it is a sort of manifesto, our personal way to share the love for handmade. You’ve already heard me saying in this blog how I believe that it is very important to defend handmade: it represents an alternative way (one we forgot about for too long) to produce things, an alternative way to buy and possess objects, a way to express our uniqueness in a world where by now you always find the same brands everywhere.We live in a world that forgot the importance of working together, respect work, and establish genuine connections between individuals and between individuals and objects. My mom always told me that the world, at the end, will be saved by philosophers – and we believe that.
