Les Main d'Hermès - A Journey into Hermès' Workshop

On December 2nd, Hermès presented at the French Cultural Center of Milan, “Les mains d’Hermès”, a film directed by Frédéric Laffont e Isabelle Dupuy- Chavanat, shot in 2011. The documentary is a tribute to the artisan working in different crafts and celebrates the theme of Hermès communication this year: "Hermès, contemporary artisan since 1837".
The directors start off from the workshops, where man and women give birth to the accessories of the Parisian House. Comming from every part of France, from Paris to the Ardennes, from Lion to Loraine they have opened the doors of this workshops to discover the gesture and the know-how of the saddlers, of the artisans working the lather, of the master glass-maker and goldsmith. Isabelle Dupuy-Chavanat e Frédéric Laffont have caught the sound of leather and crystal. The music of the silk and metal, the words of the men and women, their silence. In the film they have bond life, enthusiasm, pride, and passion while the artisan assembles a bag or a jewel. Step by step. Carefully. With love and respect to research the excellence. Ten stories from ten artisan from different fields (glassware, ship design, music) and from all over world (from the Far East to the small French towns). Les Main d'Hermès – un viaggio nel cuore degli Ateliers Hèrmes

Hermès ha presentato venerdì 2 Dicembre presso il Centro Culturale Francese di Corso Magenta 63, Milano, “Les mains d’Hermès”, un film diretto da Frédéric Laffont e Isabelle Dupuy- Chavanat, girato nel 2011. Questo documentario rende omaggio agli artigiani dei numerosi mestieri della maison e celebra il tema della comunicazione Hermès di quest’anno: “Hermès, artigiano contemporaneo dal 1837”.

Partiti alla scoperta degli atelier, i registi accendono i riflettori sugli uomini e le donne che danno vita agli oggetti della maison parigina. Ai quattro angoli della Francia, da Parigi alle Ardenne, da Lione alla Lorena, hanno aperto le porte dei laboratori artigiani per svelare i gesti e il savoir-faire del sellaio, dell’artigiano della pelle, del mastro vetraio e dell’orefice. Isabelle Dupuy-Chavanat e Frédéric Laffont hanno catturato il suono della pelle e del cristallo. La musica della seta e del metallo, le parole degli uomini e delle donne, i loro silenzi. Nella loro testimonianza cinematografica hanno unito scintille di vita, di entusiasmo, di orgoglio e passione, mentre l’artigiano assembla una borsa o un gioiello. Passo dopo passo. Meticolosamente. Con amore e rispetto, nella ricerca dell’eccellenza.
Dieci storie di dieci artigiani provenienti dai settori (cristalleria, disegno navale, musica) e dai luoghi più impensabili della terra (sia dal Far East come da piccoli paesini francesi). E' un film pieno di emozioni sul mondo dell'artigianato di Hèrmes, sul valore dell'uomo e delle sue "mani sapienti" che rendono sempre più attuale e contemporanea la figura dell'artigianato stesso.
