Low - I could live in hope (1994)

(ITA) Pur essendo etichettati come gruppo slowcore, i Low hanno ben poco da condividere con i Codeine. Qui non ci sono chitarre sparate a volumi esplosivi per confondere l’ascoltatore dopo strofe sonnambule. Le canzoni si susseguono come un mantra in chiave rock, dove i semplici riverberi della chitarra creano lisergiche variazioni sui ritmi cullanti di basso e batteria (rigorosamente suonata con spazzole di metallo). Canzoni come Lazy e Lullaby, con il suo ipnotico crescendo, sono litanie trascendentali, quasi solenni preghiere. La tradizionale ninnananna Sunshine dimostra che il gruppo ha pure il dono dell’autoironia. E’ un album perfetto.

(ENG) Although labeled as a slowcore band, Low have just a little to share with Codeine. There aren't exploding guitars that confuse the listener after sleepwalkers stanzas. The songs follow one another like a mantra in a rock key, and the simple guitar reverbs create lysergic variations on the lulling rhythms of bass and drums (played strictly with metal brushes). Songs like Lazy and Lullaby, with its hypnotic crescendo, are transcendental litanies, almost solemn prayers. The traditional lullaby Sunshine shows that the band has also the gift of self-irony. It 's a perfect album.5/5
