Low - The curtain hits the cast (1996)

(ITA) Questo è il punto di non ritorno della prima parte della carriera dei Low: ogni canzone viene rallentata e scarnificata al massimo, tendendo verso il silenzio assoluto. Canzoni comeAnon e Lust sono talmente depresse che non lasciano speranza nell’ascoltatore, e contribuiscono ad incrementare il senso d’angoscia e impotenza che caratterizza il disco (così come l’eccessiva lunghezza di quest’ultimo). Di ninnananne svagate c’è solo la splendida The plan. Le gemme sono Over the ocean e Do you know how to waltz?, di 14 minuti, con una lunga introduzione di droni che ammicca alla musica ambientale.

Songs like Anon and Lust are so depressed that leave the listener hopeless, and increase a sense of anguish and helplessness that characterizes the disc (as well as the excessive length of the latter). The only dreamy lullaby is The plan and it is just wonderful. The gems are Over the Ocean and Do you know how to waltz?, that last 14 minutes, with a long introduction of drones that nods to the ambient music.2/5
