The other day I was invited by Maryam, designer behind Mazelino name, to join her at her showroom in Hove for a fashion chat ( plus tea and cakes). We talked about our plans for 2012 ( me about styling and Maryam going big with many plans and events), the Brighton and Hove fashion scene and the fashion world in all its facets.She opened her showroom in 2006 and offers a unique approach to wedding designs as she doesn't desing a specific collection every season but her designs are tailored to the client's needs and requests.She's got her preferences and tastes, of course, as you I gathered looking around me ( Chanel, anyone?) but being skilled and knowing the business inside out, Maryam can turn her head around any design.
L'altro giorno sono stato invitato da Maryam, la stilista dietro Mazelino, ad unirmi a lei nel suo showroom ad Hove per una chiacchierata 'di moda' ( piu' the' e pasticcini). Abbiamo parlato dei nostri piani per il 2012 ( io riguardo lo styling e Maryam riguardo il fatto di ingrandire il suo business), la scena fashion a Brighton ed Hove e del mondo fashion in tutte le sue sfaccettature.Ha aperto lo showrrom nel 2006 ed offre un approccio unico alla creazione di abiti da sposa poiche' non fa una collezione specifica ogni anno da vendere ma le sue creazioni rispecchiano le esigneze e le richieste delle clienti. Ovviamente anche lei ha i suoi gusti e le sue preferenze, come ho percepito guardandomi attorno (Chanel, forse ?) ma essendo una stilista abilissima e conoscendo il suo business a tutto tondo, Maryam riesce a creare ogni stile.
The news for the 2012, plus the newly redisegned website , it's the launch of sewing parties and workshops by Mazelino, in the form of vintage sewing parties, making hats and fashinators, an evening of cocktails and sewing and children's sewing parties. We discussed at lenght about the lost skill of sewing ( how many of us can sew more than a button, or even that?) and the loss of hand made crafts in general, me included ( I can barely draw!) and those workshop are already proving popular and being booked up.A taster one it's going to happen on January the 22nd at her showroom - check all the info here - and I would have gone but I'm styling a music video that day.
Le novita' per il 2012 , oltre al nuovo sito,e' il lancio di party del cucito e laboratori, sotto forma di party di cucito vintage, cappelli e fascinators (vi metto la differenza in una nota sotto e un link con foto), serata con cocktails e cucito e feste di cucito per bambini. Abbiamo discusso a lungo dell'abilita' perduta di cucire ( quanti di noi vanno oltre l'attaccare un bottone o nemmeno quello?) e la perdita dell'artiginalita' e del fatto a mano in generale, incluso me ( a malapena so disegnare!) e questi party e laboratori stanno gia' avendo successo e avendo molte prenotazioni.Un assaggio di questi party ci sara il 22 gennaio allo showroom - cliccate qui per tutte le info - e ci srei voleto andare ma propio quel giorno faccio lo styling ad un video musicale.
