Met Museum Will Pay Tribute to Punk

After "Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossibile Conversations", which attracted only half of the visitor of the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibition, the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute of New York will stage a tribute to the punk movement next May. Entitled "The Punk: Chaos to Couture" will be launched on May 6, 2013 at the annual Costume Institute Gala - also known as the Met Ball.
The installation, which will be open to the public from May 9 to August 11, will focus on haute couture and ready-to-wear creations inspired by the punk era and will include designer such as Gianni Versace, Alexander McQueen, Dolce & Gabbana, Rodarte, Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang just to name a few. "Punk broke all the rules when it came to fashion, and everything became possible after punk," said Andrew Bolton, Costume Institute curator. "Its impact on high fashion became so enormous, and continues at the same time." We can't wait to see the pieces that are going to be available during the exhibition and the gowns that are going to be worn on the red carpet the night of the opening!

Dopo "Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossibile Conversations", che ha attirato solo la metà dei visitatori della mostra Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty, il Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute di New York sta preparando un tributo al movimento Punk per il prossimo maggio. Intitolata "The Punk: Chaos to Couture" la mostra verrà innaugurata il prossimo 6 maggio durante il Costume Institute Gala - anche conosciuto come il Met Ball. L'istallazione, che verrà aperta al pubblico dal 9 maggio al 11 agosto, si focalizzerà su alcune creazioni d'alta moda e di pret-a-porter ispirate all'era punk ed includerà stilisti del calibro di Gianni Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Alexander McQueen, Rodarte, Marc Jacobs e Alexander Wang solo per menzionarne qualcuno. "Il Punk ruppe tutte le regole quando arrivò nella moda, e tutto diventò possibile dopo il punk" ha dichiarato Andrew Bolton, curatore del Costume Institute. "L'impatto che ebbe sull'alta moda fu così enorme, e continua tuttora ad averlo".
