To reward the talent of the young Italian-Haitian fashion designer, Giorgio Armani has decided to offer her the Armani/Theatre in Via Bergognone to set her fashion show.I have to admit that when I saw Armani/Theatre, my breath was taken far away: I've never seen a space so huge, minimal and also aseptic. The giant columns and big stone walls mixed with steel parts inevitably remind me the Rotonda of Besana, the wonderful location where Stella Jean set her fashion show last September, a historical and charming place, totally different from the Armani/Theatre.I wondered how Stella Jean could recreate the sense of warmth and glow of the past year in a so cold location, but as soon as the first model started her catwalk, I felt it.
Stella Jean S/S 2014 collection is a cultural, social and historical journey of exploration and evocations that refers to the collaboration between the young designers and the International Trade Center company. Thanks to this partnership, Stella Jean had the opportunity to know and use textiles from Burkina Faso, exporting in this way the african tradition of tailoring to Europe.Stella Jean was able to use her skirts and her clothes richly decorated as if they were a canvas to paint on; she combined and mixed the African heritage to the taste and aristocratic style of French Riviera and Italian beaches.A colorful and sparkling fashion show signed by the mixture of different prints and patterns in order to recreate a kind of patchwork puzzle. In addition scarves and big flowers, 60s volumes and the "Wax & Stripes" philosophy, that characterizes all the Stella Jean's collections.
Outfit by outfit, I was brought into a carnival of joy, colour and beauty; I was able to breathe multiculturalism and the absence of boundaries. Walls fell down and the whole world was right there that paraded in front of my caught and dreamy eyes.I shivered from the beginning to the end of the show when Stella Jean appeared on the catwalk to say hello to her parterre, wrapped in an aura of humility and simplicity that characterized her, I was even more excited and my eyes filled in with tears.Stella Jean's fashion show is one of those, which touched me mostly; the fashion designer has reconfirmed once again the styling queen, a genuine person and overall a girl who deeply loves fashion in its purest, most primitive and intimate sense. Just in a word: poetry.
