My summer in Greece: Corfu town & the South of Corfù

 

Corfù

Corfù (Kerkyra) è l'unica cittadina dell'isola ed è deliziosa!
La parte antica è molto tipica, con i portici in stile Veneziano, la Spianada (che dicono sia la piazza più bella delle Grecia) e le due fortezze, una sul mare più antica e l'altra più all'interno.
E' anche piena di localini carinissimi e di negozietti di artigianato locale: è un piacere da visitare, perchè è molto pulita, graziosa e grazie ai portici è quasi tutta ombreggiata nonostante il sole a picco ed il caldo che ci hanno accompagnato per tutta la vacanza!

Corfu Town

Corfu (Kerkyra) is the only town on the island and is really pretty!
The old part is very typical, with the porticoes in Venetian style, the Esplanade (which they say is the most beautiful square of Greece) and the two forts, the oldest on the sea and one another inside.
It's also full of cute cafes and craft shops: it is a pleasure to visit, because it is very clean, nice and thanks to the arcades is almost entirely shaded and fresh, despite the blazing sun and the warm that have accompanied us almost throughout the entire  holiday!

 L'ultimo giorno ci siamo imbattuti in un matrimonio Greco: i Greci sono troppo simpatici ed accoglienti, sembrava di stare nel musical MAMMA MIA! ^^The last day on Kerkyra we came across a Greek wedding: Greek people is so fun and hospitable,  seemed to be into the musical MAMMA MIA! ^^ Il simbolo di Corfù: il monastero di Vlacherna (quello attaccato al pontile) e Pontikonissi, l'isoletta di fronte con la Chiesetta ortodossa

A nord di Corfù c'è Kanoni, il quanrtiere elegante della cittadina( anche se sono tutti alberghi e ristoranti). La vista da lì è spettacolare: da una parte dà sulla pista di atterraggio degli aerei ( che è proprio in mezzo al mare) e dall'altra su Valcherna e Pontikonissi
To the north of Corfu there is Kanoni, the elegant district of the town (although there are all hotels and restaurants). The view from there is spectacular: on the one side gives the landing strip of the airport (which is right in the middle of the sea) and on the other on Valcherna and Pontikonissi
 
 
Prima di arrivare a Corfù, dato il bel tempo ed il mare calmo ( che non immaginavamo sarebbe durato per tutta la vacanza) da Paxos, dove siamo stati i Primi giorni, ci siamo diretti subito verso la parte sud dell'Isola che l'anno scorso non avevamo visto bene: 

Kassiopi, Kavos e Gardenos.

In realtà per chi come noi ama il mare di scoglio ed i panorami non è il massimo (o per lo meno rispetto al resto dell'isola): sono tutte spiagge luuuunghissime, di sabbia finissima rossiccia (quelle argillose) o bianca, per lo più circondate da scolgiere a strapiombo di argilla oppure ricoperte di vegerazione.L'acqua è limpidissima anche lì ma per vedere i pesci bisogna nuotare parecchio.


De days before Corfu, seen the good weather and calm sea (which we did not imagine it would last throughout the entire holiday), since we stayed the first days at Paxos, we headed right to the south of the island, which last year had not seen very well: 

Kassiopi, Kavos and Gardenos.

In fact for those of us who love the rock and the views, is not the best (or at least compared to the rest of the island) are all very looooong beaches, reddish (cause the clay) or white sandy, mostly surrounded by cliffs covered with clay or plants.The water is crystal clear but to see the fish you must swim a lot.

 Visto che non avevo niente da fare mi sono afftittata un quad per "esplorare i dintorni", finchè i miei hanno visto che saltavo le cunette in fuoristrada insieme ad una coppia di ragazzi olandesi con cui avevo fatto amicizia... Non avete sentito le urla di mia mamma in Italia?
Since I had nothing to do I've rent a quad to "explore the surroundings," as long as my parents saw me jumping ditches off-road wit a couple of Dutch guys...
 
 Insomma qualcosa dovevo pur farla no? Ed i miei non sono riusciti ad evitare i miei abbracci argillosi (è tutta salute)! ^^
Well, when i became bored I'm dangerous: and my parents would not have been able to avoid my clay hugs (c'mon it'is all health)! ^^
