Nella mia libreria !

Ho appena inaugurato una pagina del blog dove archivierò gli ultimi libri letti: FRANCY'S BOOKCASE. Quelli inseriti man mano, però, non verranno cancellati, perciò lungo andare questa 'libreria virtuale' diventerà un vero e proprio archivio fisso  delle mie letture romance.

Si tratta quasi sempre di romanzi in inglese (ormai lo sapete che preferisco leggere gli originali!). Spero che la pagina potrà dare qualche consiglio di lettura a quelle di voi che leggono in originale o che vorrebbero farlo in un futuro più o meno vicino (non è ai troppo tardi per provare!).

Ecco tre mie recenti piacevoli letture( quest'estate mi sono rifatta del poco tempo a disposizione per leggeredurante l'anno!) :

BREAKING POINT di Pamela Clare (2011) - # 5  I-TEAM series 

Genere: Romantic suspense - Mio Giudizio: 5 - Bellissimo! (anche la copertina!!!)

Questa serie di romantic suspense con protagoniste delle 'giornaliste investigative' meriterebbe di essere tutta tradotta in italiano e spero che lo sarà prima o poi. Pamela Clare scrive proprio bene e questo in particolare è un libro che mischia sapientemente tutti i migliori elementi del sottogenere (compreso un erotismo decisamente hot hot che,stranamente, ho apprezzato moltissimo...forse perchè ben inserito nel contesto della narrazione). E'  una storia all'ultimo respiro, in cui  una delle giornaliste dell'I-Team si trova coinvolta in un'indagine che la porterà a rischiare la vita e a tirare fuori le unghie per sopravvivere, aiutata da un eroe che si fa assolutamente ricordare! No riuscirete a metterlo giù, vi avverto, comiciatelo ad un'ora decente se no...addio sonno! Ogni commento sulla sua copertina è superfluo...Yummy!

 

ELEVEN SCANDALS TO START TO WIN A DUKE'S HEART di Sarah MacLean (2011) - #3 Love by numers series

Genere: Regency - Mio Giudizio: 5 - Bellissimo!

She has other plans, however; she wants two weeks to prove that even an unflappable duke is not above passion.

Si tratta del terzo romanzo di una serie regency  davvero carina - Love by Numbers -  di una nuova autrice (di origini italiane) che scrive bene e sa caratterizzare i personaggi facendoceli apprezzare come esseri umani dotati di sentimenti prima che come belle statuine in abiti regency. Questa storia mette a confronto due persone che per le strette regole sociali del tempo non dovrebbero nemmeno guardarsi, ma che pur sapendolo non potranno fare a meno di avvicinarsi inesorabilmente e innamorarsi. Lui è un duca che non può permettersi di comportarsi in modo meno che impeccabile e avere conoscenze che diano lustro al suo status, lei è la figlia chiacchierata di una nobildonna inglese e di un mercante italiano. Un pedigree tutt'altro che perfetto,insomma, soprattutto agli occhi di un duca che i salotti del ton chiamano ' The Duke Disdain'( Il duca sdegnoso,arrogante): Eppure nessun muro sociale riuscirà a tenere lontani questi due (nemmeno loro stessi!)...basteranno due settimane a Juliana per conquistare l'uomo dei suoi sogni? Sì. Ma per amore sarà anche disposta a lasciarlo andare...ma lui riuscirà a fare a meno di quella vivace ragazza che gli ha illuminato la vita? Un libro con due protagonisti indimenticabili. Come abbia fatto la reviewer di All About Romance a dare a questo romanzo un 'C+' è assolutamente inspiegabile! (Non badateci!) Spero che la MacLean venga presto tradotta anche in Italia. Della serie fanno parte (per ora) anche due altri romanzi ( i due precedenti a questo), entrambi  ugualmente piacevoli. Una serie che consiglio assolutamente.

 

THE SUMMER OF YOU (2010) di Kate Noble - #2 Blue Raven series

Genere: Regency - Mio Giudizio:4 1/2 - Bello. (Un'autrice da tenere d'occhio!)

Lady Jane Cummings is certain that her summer is ruined when she is forced to reside at isolated Merrymere Lake with her reckless brother and ailing father. Her fast-paced London society is replaced with a small town grapevine. But one bit of gossip catches Jane’s attention – rumors that the lake’s brooding new resident is also an elusive highwayman.
Jane must face the much discussed mysterioso after he saves her brother from a pub brawl. She immediately recognizes him from London: Byrne Worth, war hero and apparent hermit – who she finds strangely charming. The two build a fast friendship, and soon nothing can keep this Lady away from Merrymere’s most wanted. Convinced of his innocence, Jane is determined to clear Byrne’s name – and maybe have a little fun this summer after all…

 Un'altra autrice da tenere assolutamente d'occhio questa Kate Noble. Il romanzo è il terzo di una serie regency - The Blue Raven - che gira attorno alla figura di una spia britannica durante le guerre napoleoniche, ma che in realtà è un bell'affresco dell'alta società del tempo che l'autrice dipinge con colori vivaci, a piccoli tocchi di pennello. Uno stile unico, brillante, capace di caratterizzare nei particolari il quadro sociale in cui si muovono i personaggi e una prosa leggera alla Julia Quinn, ma forse più capace nelle descrizioni di ambiente (anche se un po' più debole nelle trame). Nel romanzo precedente- Revealed -  l'autrice è così brava che alla fine ci fa risultare  simpatica un'eroina inizialmente davvero insopportabile! Anche in questo caso spero che la si possa presto apprezzare anche in Italia, sono sicura che riuscirebbe ad avere tantissime fans. La Noble è la testimonianza di come un genere ormai abusato e fin un po' 'prosciugato' come il Regency possa, nelle mani giuste,dare ancora  tantissimo. Per somma gioia di noi lettrici.
