E' l’incrocio fra due stili, il punk e il grunge, la tendenza forte della moda di questo autunno inverno. Una ricombinazione di codici che arrivano dalla fine degli anni Settanta e, soprattutto, dall’inizio dei Novanta, rielaborata dagli stilisti in chiave glam/chic.
Torna l’epoca delle inquietudini della «generazione X» che vennero incarnate dal rock, in primo luogo con il gruppo leggendario dei Nirvana di Kurt Cobain.
Ed un anno fu emblematico: il 1993. È l’anno in cui si afferma la molto criticata estetica dell’heroin chic. Una giovanissima Kate Moss, non ancora famosa, si impone come musa di un’estetica per la prima volta «contaminata» dalla realtà; fino ad allora infatti le modelle avevano rappresentato l'idealizzazione di un modello.
il New Museum di New York ha dedicato pochi mesi fa una intera mostra a quell'anno, vero spartiacque del contemporaneo, dalla moda all'arte. Allora, l'idea di portare il rock nel rarefatto mondo del lusso era un azzardo a dir poco sconsiderato. Non a caso, costò al giovane Marc Jacobs, che aveva intuito la dirompente portata generazionale di questo movimento musicale, il posto di direttore artistico da Perry Ellis, dando l'avvio a una brillante carriera solista.
Ed ecco che dilaga - di nuovo! - il grunge. Ma oggi è l'esatto contrario. Gli strati, il glamour da bohème metropolitana; i capelli spettinati, il make-up sfatto e gli orli vivi, è tutto in versione cinque stelle.
Insomma il massimo dello snobismo: l'effetto thrift store ricostruito in atelier.
