NEWS | HTC Desire HD e Desire Z useranno le mappe di TomTom!

Pochi minuti fa ho letto in rete una notizia davvero molto interessante.

A quanto pare (e sembra proprio ufficiale) i nuovi smartphone di HTC, Desire Z e Desire HD, avranno preinstallate al loro interno le mappe di TomTom, la famosa azienda produttrice di navigatori satellitari per auto.

Come certamente saprete, infatti, con l’arrivo della nuova interfaccia Sense di HTC, sono state introdotte anche le mappe precaricate sugli smartphone. I primi ad usufruirne saranno proprio i nuovi HTC Desire HD e Desire Z, che arriveranno a breve anche sul mercato italiano.

Proprio poche ore fa, però, HTC ha fatto sapere che tutto questo è stato reso possibile grazie alla collaborazione con TomTom, che fornirà le mappe.

Ma le novità non finiscono qui. Oltre alle mappe (caricate e consultabili in maniera completamente gratuita), TomTom offrirà agli utenti in possesso di questi smartphone anche la funzione di navigazione satellitare (con indicazioni ed istruzioni vocali, oltre ad altri servizi premium), che sarà però a pagamento.

Al momento, purtroppo, non si conoscono bene i costi ed i dettagli del servizio. A breve comunque arriveranno maggiori informazioni.

Per chi non volesse pagare per avere la navigazione satellitare, ricordo che sarà comunque possibile utilizzare il servizio Google Maps Navigation per avere sullo smartphone un navigatore satellitare completamente gratuito.

TomTom and HTC unite to deliver best of class location and navigation experience on the phone

HTC Locations, HTC’s new mapping experience, comes preloaded with TomTom’s location-rich maps, resulting in a zero-wait navigation experience. HTC Locations is initially available on the new HTC Desire HD and HTC Desire Z smartphones in Europe and Asia and will be extended to a wide variety of future smartphones and geographies.

Maps and location content come preloaded on HTC Locations while turn-by-turn navigation can be purchased and downloaded through HTC Locations or HTC Sync.
