Che sia scoppiata l'estate, ormai è più che assodato. Anzi c'è chi è già partito e tornato dalle prime vacanze. Purtroppo, quest'anno io non potrò concedermi viaggi estivi (!!) per via dell'Università e quindi, non mi resta che "rubare" le vacanze altrui, per darvi spunto per questa stagione.
Ecco allora un itinerario per le vostre vacanze, un viaggio stupendo attraverso la Spagna del Nord per arrivare fino in Portogallo, destinazione finale: O Porto! Il viaggio è della scorsa estate e i protagonisti sono Giacomo e un gruppo di amici. Le foto e le notizie sono quindi le sue.
Iniziamo con la prima tappa, preparatevi!
That the summer has broken out now is more than established. Indeed some are already gone and returned from the first vacation. Unfortunately, this year I cannot give me summer trips (!) because of my University and then, I just can to "steal" other people's holidays, to offer you some inspiration for this season.
So, here is an itinerary for your vacation, a gorgeous trip through the Northern Spain to reach Portugal with O Porto! as final destination. The trip is from last summer and the protagonists are my boyfriend Giacomo and a group of friends. The photos and the news is so by him.
We begin with the first stage, get ready!

Arrivati all'aeroporto di Santander, in tarda serata, abbiamo subito ritirato l'auto che avevamo precedentemente prenotato online (putroppo non ricordo con quale sito!) e così è iniziato il viaggio, con primo stop a Santillana de Mar, dove abbiamo passato la notte.
When we got at the airport of Santander, in the late evening, we immediately withdrew the car which we had previously booked online (unfortunately I can not remember the website we used!) and the journey has began! Our first stop was Santillana de Mar, where we spent the night.

Per muoversi nel nord della Spagna, l'auto è certamente molto comoda. Non posso fornire informazioni sui bus o i collegamenti ferroviari: noi abbiamo optato fin dall'inizio per l'affitto delle auto - un po' per la libertà che vi offriva, un po' per il fatto che, essendo un gruppo consistente, il vantaggio diventava anche economico.
C'è poi un'altra soluzione: a piedi o in bicicletta per i percorsi che conducono a Santiago.
Per questo tipo di viaggio c'è bisogno dello zaino in spalla, scarpe comode e molta determinazione... a voi la scelta!! To move around the north of Spain, the car is certainly very convenient. I can not provide information about bus or rail links: we have immediately opted for the rental car - on the one hand for the freedom it can give you and on the other hand to the fact that, because of the large group, the advantage became economic too.
There is another solution: walking or biking along the paths leading to Santiago.
For this type of travel you need a backpacker, comfortable shoes and lots of determination ... the choice is yours!

Santillana de Mar è una cittadina molto graziosa poco distante dalla costa, immersa nella campagna della Cantabria. Il posto è molto tranquillo e personalmente credo valga la pena fermarsi una o due notti per poter visitare il centro storico, con i suoi palazzi antichi e la stupenda Collegiata di Santa Juliana che risale al XII e al XIV secolo.
Santillana de Mar is a very pretty little town not far from the coast, set in the countryside of Cantabria. The place is very quiet and I personally think it's worth stopping one or two nights to visit the old town, with its ancient buildings and the beautiful Church of Santa Juliana, which dates from the twelfth and the fourteenth century.

L'aspetto più scenografico del luogo è certamente il chiostro, situato nella facciata nord, dove spiccano per bellezza i magnifici capitelli scolpiti.
What is so spectacular in the place is certainly the cloister, situated in the north front, which the magnificent carved capitals stand out for their beauty.

Poco distanti da Santillana si trova lo zoo e la grotta di Altamira nella quale sono conservate le celebri pitture rupestri del Paleolitico. Se vi aspettate però di vedere con i vostri occhi le pitture, resterete profondamente delusi. Infatti, a causa dello stato di deperimento in cui si trovano, la vera grotta è stata chiusa alle visite e ne è stata realizzata una copia per le visite turistiche.
L'atmosfera holliwoodiana fatta di effetti sonori e manichini raffiguranti i primi ominidi, ricorda più il set di Jurassic park che un museo. Ma insomma, l'effetto è comunque garantito (visto anche il modico costo del biglietto). E' senz'altro consigliabile a chi viaggia con bambini!
Not far from Santillana there is the zoo and the cave of Altamira in which are preserved the famous cave paintings of the Paleolithic. But if you expect to see with your eyes the paintings, you will be deeply disappointed. In fact, due to the state of decay that are the real cave was closed to visitors and a copy was made for sightseeing.
The Hollywoodian atmosphere made of sound effects and dummies representing the earliest hominids reminds more the set of Jurassic Park than a museum. But at the end the effect is still guaranteed (due the the modest ticket price too). It's definitely recommended for those traveling with children!
