OOTD: Green and sequins

C’è una parte dell’(enorme)armadio dei miei genitori che per me è del tutto off-limit: è quella che contiene gli abiti da sera e da cerimonia, quelli più belli e preziosi insomma, quasi tutti di mamma, compresi il suo abito da sposa e gli abitini da battesimo mio e di mio fratello (un trionfo di pizzi e nastri che non so come si vedesse che c’era un bebè lì in mezzo) ed il mio abito della Prima Comunione (quello di mio fratello è durato poco, si è strappato i pantaloni giocando a pallone con gli altri bambini nel cortile della villa dove si è tenuto il pranzo).A quanto pare quando i miei genitori erano giovani i vestiti da sera e da cerimonia si usavano molto più di quanto non si faccia ora, e ci si teneva che fossero ben fatti e di ottima qualità (oltretutto credo che abiti ed accessori di maison importanti come Valentino, Fendi o Dior costassero molto meno rispetto ad oggi, visto che mamma e zia ne avevano diversi, più o meno alla mia età, ed io pochissimi…), quindi mia mamma ne ha collezionati una bella sfilza negli anni.Comunque, ogni tanto le ante della parte proibita dell’armadio vengono aperte ed io ne approfitto sistematicamente per provarmi qualche abito e cercare di sgraffignare qualcosa; l’ultima volta è stato più o meno un paio di settimane fa, ed in quell’occasione ho notato quest’abito verde di Valentino che finora mi era sempre sfuggito, chissà perché.Credo risalga più o meno agli anni 70 ed è in crepe di seta, con ampissimi panta-palazzo e la casacca tutta ricamata sul fondo, e sembra che mia mma lo abbia indossato per un Capodanno importante a Cortina.
Visto che a Giugno i miei genitori festeggeranno l’annivesario di matrimonio con amici e parenti, ho subito pensato che averi potuto indossarlo in quell’occasione, è formale ma non troppo ed elegante quanto basta.Ma c’è un problema: mia mamma è quasi 15 cm più bassa di me e quei pantaloni mi stanno giusti scalza, con le scarpe (tanto più visto che probabilmente metterò un tacco 10) diventano corti…E’ vero che c’è un bel po’ di orlo che si potrebbe sfruttare per allungarli, ma, dato che comunque li dovrei far stringere, stavo pensando di tagliarli e farli diventare culottes al polaccio. Mia mamma ha un po’ storto il naso all’idea, ma secondo me così il completo sarebbe molto più carino e moderno: voi che mi suggerite di fare? :)
There is a part of the (huge) wardrobe of my parents that for me it is completely off-limits: it is the one that contains the evening dresses and formal dresses, including my mother wedding dress and christening dresses mine and of my brother (a triumph of lace and ribbons that I do not know how you could see that there was a baby in the middle) and my first communion dress (to my brother it did not last long, he ripped his pants playing football with the other children in the courtyard of the villa where held the lunch).
Apparently when my parents were young evening dresses and formal dresses were used much more than we do now, and they were very well made and of excellent quality (plus I think clothes and accessories of fashion house as Valentino, Fendi or Dior were cost very less than today, since mom and aunt had several more or less my age and I ... very few), so my mom has collected a slew during years.
However, sometimes the doors of the forbidden part of the closet are opened and I take the opportunity to systematically try on some clothes and try to pinch something; the last time was more or less a couple of weeks ago, and at that time I noticed this Valentino green 2 piece that my mom wore for a New Year Evening a lot of years ago. I think it goes back more or less to 70 years, is made of silk crepe, with huge flared pants and the top whole embroidered on the bottom.
Since in June my parents celebrate the 30^th anniversary of marriage, I immediately thought that I could wear it, It’s not too formal but elegant enough.
But there is one problem: my mom is about 15 cm shorter than me and those pants are right just on me barefoot, with shoes (especially since it probably will put a heel 10) become short ...
It 's true that there is many hem that you could use to make them longer, but, since I’d should make them tight, I was thinking to cut them and transform them into culottes to ankles ... My mom has a little 'crooked nose the idea, but I think it would be much nicer and more modern… what do you suggest to do?
