Buongiorno Fanciulle!!
Oggi vi parlo di una collaborazione con una personal shopper, consulente d’immagine e blogger americana, Janelle Howes, proprietaria di SASHA BOWMAN, da Filadelfia, Pennsylvania. Il suo blog è fonte di consigli pratici su come “affrontare” la moda nel corso delle diverse stagioni e mette le sue lettrici alla prova su alcuni argomenti un po’ “scomodi”.
Io sono stata contattata da Janelle per partecipare a una specie di workshop su come interpretare in modo fashion il “vestirsi a cipolla”. In effetti coprirsi di strati senza diventare l’Omino Michelin non è sempre facile da fare e/o carino da vedere. Un conto è una giornata tra i banchi di scuola dove “tanto non mi deve vedere nessuno” ma se invece fosse un impegno importante personale o di lavoro? Poi con le mezze stagioni non si sa mai come vestirsi (raffreddore: presente -.-”)!!
Io ho scelto un look un po’ particolare per un normale sabato pomeriggio :)

La Mere Layering Technique – Love from Italy
Vedo questa esperienza come un workshop, un modo per comunicare con gli altri, esprimere le proprie idee e sentire quelle degli altri imparando qualcosa di nuovo.
Il “vestirsi a cipolla” viene spesso sottovalutato, come se maglietta e felpa a caso potessero andare bene. Qualche volta sì, ma non in ogni occasione. A me piace vedere cosa indosso, quindi quando mi vesto a strati scelgo di dare importanza ai dettagli: il colletto della camicia che spunta dalla felpa o una canotta simpatica sotto blazer o cardigan.
In questo caso ho optato per la seconda: una t-shirt Alcott da uomo, omaggiando, in modo un po’ particolare, un grande Presidente degli Stati Uniti dal passato, J.F.Kennedy :) Sopra cardigan nero, chiodo effetto trapuntato di Zara e una sciarpa rubata dall’armadio del mio compagno. A completare l’outfit, una gonna asimmetrica e un paio di stringate italiane. Un total black con dettagli bianchi, rossi e blu (colori della bandiera statunitense). Già, perchè sta sempre tutto proprio nei dettagli :)
Ho trovato davvero interessante questa esperienza. Il “vestirsi a strati” significa poter giocare con abiti, colori e immagini, a seconda della propria fantasia. In Italia fa sempre abbastanza freddo in inverno, quindi serve coprirsi.

Today I’ll tell you about a collaboration with Janelle Howes, owner of SASHA BOWMAN and personal shopper and image consultant from Philadephia, Pennsylvania. Her blog is a source of practical advices about fashion seasonal “challenges” and she tries her readers out for some quite “thorny” issues.
I’ve been contacted by Janelle for taking part to a kind of workshop on how to interpret layering in a fashion way. Covering itself with layers and not becoming the Michelin Man is not always simple to do and/or nice to watch. There are school day where “nobody see me” and then there are days where you have an important work or personal date. Then, with mid-seasons you never know how to get yourself dressed (cold: here am I -.-”)!!
I chose a quite particular look for a normal Saturday afternoon :)

La Mere Layering Technique – Love from Italy
I consider this experience as a workshop, a way to communicate with the world, expressing ideas, watching people expressing theirs and learning from that.
Layering is often an underestimate aspect, as people easily think that a t-shirt and a sweater should be enough. It could be, but not always. I like when I can actually see what I’m wearing, so when I practice layering I decide giving relevance to details: the collar of shirt appearing from the sweatshirt or a funny tank under the blazer or cardigan.
In this case I chose the second option, homagin with an Alcott man t-shirt a great US President from the past, J.F.Kennedy, in a quite particular way :) On the top a black cardigan, a black Zara quilted jacket and a scarf stolen from my boyfriend’s closet. To complete the outfit, an asimmetric skirt and a pair of Italian Oxford shoes. A total black with white, blue and red (colors of the US flag) details. It’s always all about details ;)
I really enjoyed this experience as layering means the possibility to play with clothes, colors and images, as fantasy could suggest. In my country, Italy, we need this stuff in winter, as it’s always quite cold.
