Orient express

Una delle cose che avrei tanto voluto fare è poter viaggiare sull’Orient Express, il mitico treno di lusso, che per 126 anni ha collegato Parigi a Istanbul.Lo so che il mio desiderio deriva fondamentalmente da un’immaginario legato più ad un sogno che alla realtà: un sogno popolato da personaggi della belle époque, capitani di industria, aristocratici, artisti famosi e scrittori come Agatha Christies (che proprio da un viaggio su questa linea trasse ispirazione per il suo “Omicidio sull’Orient Express”); un’umanità ricca ed elegante che a quell'epoca viaggiava in treno, su “quel” treno che inevitabilmente portava con sé avventure e misteri.Per quella clientela di lusso, che a fine ‘800 aveva reso celebre il primo collegamento diretto tra Oriente e Occidente, la meta non era la stazione di Sirkeci, a Istanbul, ma il viaggio stesso.Perciò questa settimana ho deciso di viaggiare anche io (anche se solo con la fantasia) sui binari di quel mitico treno, e la meta non sarà Istanbul, ma andrà ben oltre: viaggerà attraverso i Paesi più misteriosi e affascinanti del mondo, dall’Africa fino all’estremo Oriente...: pronti a partire? =)
One of the things I really wanted to do in my life was to travel on the Orient Express, the legendary luxury train, which for 126 years connected Paris to Istanbul. I know that my desire stems basically from an imaginary linked more to a dream than reality, a dream full with the belle époque people, industry captains , aristocrats, famous artists and writers like Agatha Christie (who from a trip on this line drew inspiration for her "Murder on the Orient Express"),a rich and elegant humanity that in this period was traveling in train, and "that" train inevitably was carrying adventures and mysteries. Were those luxury customers that, at the end of 800, made famous the first direct link between East and West, for whom the goal was not the Sirkeci station in Istanbul, but the journey itself. So this week I decided to travel (even if only in my imagination) on the tracks of this legendary train, and the goal is not Istanbul, but far beyond, i will travel through the most mysterious and fascinating countries of the world, from Africa to Far East...: ready to go? =)
