Settembre è partito con molte novità anche per Wonderful Monster, prima fra tutte la segnalazione di romanzi pubblicati o in via di pubblicazione all’estero e particolarmente interessanti, i cui diritti, mi auguro, saranno presto acquistati anche per l’Italia. Ed ecco che arriviamo al primo di questi: si intitola Deceived (Ingannato) e l’autrice americana si chiama Julia Anne Lindsay, un Fantasy YA davvero interessante!
Il 18 settembre sarà pubblicato da F+W/Adams Media (Merit Press) questo interessante mystery, rivolto prevalentemente ad un pubblico Young Adults. Da segnalare che Merit Press è capitanata da Jacquelyn Mitchard, giornalista e autrice best seller americana (ha all’attivo oltre 20 pubblicazioni): pensate che il suo romanzo d’esordio, The deep end of the Ocean, vendette oltre 3 milioni di copie e restò al n° 1 nel New York Times Bestseller per 13 settimane.
Ho avuto la possibilità di leggere in anteprima sull’uscita USA questo romanzo (che ho portato in vacanza con me) ed è quindi un piacere per me parlarne all’interno di questo blog. Come vedrete, sotto ci sono tutti i dati del libro sia in italiano che in inglese, così da poter raggiungere anche i lettori d’oltreoceano (mi scuso fin d’ora per il mio inglese, ben lontano dalla perfezione).

I had the opportunity to read a U.S. ARC copy of novel (which I brought with me on vacation) and is therefore a pleasure for me to talk about it in my blog. As you will see, below you will find all the information of the book in both Italian and English, so we can reach the reader overseas (sorry for my english that is very far from perfection).
TRAMA
Quando il padre di Elle, un genitore single e pezzo grosso di un’azienda di assicurazioni, la trasferisce in un altro collegio l’ultimo anno delle superiori, Elle è disgustata quando si accorge che nulla cambia. Il suo terrore notturno non se ne va e, ben presto, nonostante le chiamate e le visite del padre, Elle inizia a credere che stia per diventare pazza. Sa di essere seguita, un nastro è legato intorno alla maniglia della sua porta, e ci sono quei mozziconi di sigaretta che continuano ad apparire sullo zerbino, in violazione al rigoroso divieto di fumo nel campus. LA MIA RECENSIONE
Ho deciso di leggere questo libro per un motivo: ritengo che il mystery rivolto ad un pubblico young adult sia molto interessante. Sono davvero pochi i libri di questo tipo in Italia dove certo non mancano i gialli e nemmeno i libri rivolti ai giovani adulti, ma troppo spesso i due tipi di lettura non convivono sotto lo stesso tetto e per questo ritengo importante segnalare romanzi che meriterebbero la pubblicazione anche in Italia.
La sua migliore amica Pixie, uno spirito libero disinibito e colorato, cerca di farla uscire da questa bolla di sicurezza nella quale Elle si sta rinchiudendo, spingendola ad uscire e conoscere persone. Succede quindi che Elle conosce due ragazze, lo sfuggente e affascinante Bryan e il bravo ragazzo della porta accanto Davis. Bryan è, in realtà, uno studente alla sua stessa scuola ma dentro le mura del campus finge di non conoscerla, fintanto che non la mette in guarda da un terribile pericolo.
Non svelerò la trama ulteriormente altrimenti rischierei di rovinarvi le numerose sorprese che troverete in questo libro dal ritmo serrato, che parte lentamente per poi crescere e ribaltare completamente la realtà cui inizialmente abbiamo creduto. Elle stessa scoprirà che tutto quello che aveva creduto di sè, della sua famiglia e del suo passato è ben diverso dalla realtà.
In sostante, un bel mystery, autonclusivo e ben costruito, dove tutte le carte sul tavolo verranno scoperte solo alla fine.
MY REVIEW
I decided to read this book for one reason: I believe that the mystery aimed at a young adult audience is very interesting. There are very few books of this kind in Italy where certainly no shortage of thriller and even young adults books, but too often the two types of reading do not live together under the same roof and that’s why I consider important to report you novels that deserve release in Italy.
The protagonist of the novel is Gabriella, Elle for friends, that we begin to learn about in a particular moment in his life: for unknown reasons she had to change school again (which happens since her mother dyed 11 years before and was only the father, a bigwig in the field of insurance, to take care of her), but get away from her previous life did not allow to break free from bad dreams he does, frightening dreams, recurring nightmares that led her to struggle to sleep. Issues that fights going to the gym doing exercises and drinking coffee to stay awake. This situation causes her to be particularly paranoid: he feels followed as she sees evidences (such as a pile of cigarette butts outside the door to the campus where it is forbidden to smoke ) which led her to believe that she spied. But it is just her imagination? It’s getting crazy or is the girl seriously in danger?
Her best friend Pixie, a free uninhibited and colorful spirit, tries to get her out of this security bubble in which she’s penning, urging her to get out and meet people. It happens then that Elle knows two boys, the elusive and fascinating Bryan and the nice-guy-next-door Davis. Bryan is, in fact, a student at the same school but within the campus walls pretends not to know her, as long as he do not put it in looks her from a terrible danger.
I will not reveal the plot further otherwise I risk spoiling the many surprises you’ll find in this fast-paced book, which starts slowly and then grow and completely reverse the reality to which we initially believ. Elle will discovers that everything she believed about herself, his family and her past is very different from reality.
In sostante, a good mystery, a stand-alone novel well built, where all the cards on the table will be discovered only at the end.
