Rescue Remedy #1- How to Save a Dried Nail Polish!

Oggi avevo in mente di postare una bella panoramica sull’eterna battaglia tra le matite per occhi e i kajal (quale è meglio, differenze, usi, varie ed eventuali…), però, dopo essermi sporcata la mano sinistra più della faccia di un capo indiano Cherokee, ho scoperto che la batteria della macchina fotografica è scarica. Così, per non lasciarvi a bocca asciutta mentre la batteria si ricarica, ho deciso di innaugurare una nuova sezione: Rescue Remedy.
Today I was thinking of posting a full review on the eternal battle between the eye pencils and kohl pencils (which is better, differences, uses, and much more …), however, after I soiled my left hand more than the face of a Cherokee Indian chief, I discovered that the camera battery is dead. So as not to leave you empty-handed while the battery recharges, I decided inaugurated a new section: Rescue Remedy.

 In pratica, in questo spazio troveranno posto i suggerimenti ed i trucchi per risolvere tutti quei piccoli drammi che avvengono non solo all’ultimo minuto, ma anche quando andiamo di fretta che più fretta non si può.Iniziamo da un argomento che mi sta particolarmente a cuore, come avrete capito sia dai primissimi post, sia dal titolo del post: come salvare uno smalto che si è seccato.

Qualche anno fa avevo uno smalto bellissimo della Corolle- L’Oréal. Un turchese stupendo. Uno di quei colori che si possono portare anche d’inverno e anche sulle pelli bianche come la mia. Poi, un giorno, mentre mi stavo preparando per una festa, scopro con orrore che lo smalto s’era seccato e non ho potuto far altro che buttarlo, con grande dispiacere. Poi, un mese fa, la Patty (la mia amica manicurista) mi rivela un trucco per salvare gli smalti che si sono seccati, un trucco così facile che mi sono detta che dovevo condividerlo. Assolutamente. Sì, certo, esistono i prodtti specifici per questi disastri, ma come fare se a) non conosciamo il prodotto e b) non lo abbiamo in casa? La risposta è rosa e si chiama alcool etilico denaturato. Ma analizziamo prima il come e il perchédel problema, per evitare che si presenti o che capiti una seconda volta (Errare humanum est. Perseverare diabolicus, dicevano i latini.)  Few years ago I had a beautiful glaze of Corolle-L’Oreal. A beautiful turquoise. One of those colors that can be carried in winter and also on the skin as white as mine. Then one day while I was preparing for a party, I discover with horror that the enamel had dried and I could not help but throw it with great regret. Then a month ago, Patty (my manicurist friend) tells me a trick to save the glazes that have dried up, a trick so easy that I said that I had to share it. Absolutely. Yes, of course, there are specific prodtti for these disasters, but what if a) we do not know the product and b) do not have it at home? The answer is pink and is called denatured ethyl alcohol. But first we analyze how and perchédel problem, to avoid present or that it happens a second time (Errare humanum est. Perseverare diabolicus, said the Latins.)    In che modo si seccano gli smalti? Il nemico numero uno, ragazze, è l’aria. Il trucco è quello di richiudere ermeticamente le boccette dopo aver usato lo smalto e fare attenzione che siano effettivamente chiuse. A volte un tappo può girare a vuoto per mille ragioni (l’abbiamo inserito male, ci sono dei residui che fanno massa) e noi possiamo rimettere a posto una boccetta che invece a posto non è, finendo con il ritrovarci la prossima volta con uno smalto che non scorre, che fila come un pezzo di mozzarella su una pizza e che non si asciugherà mai. Se la risposta, invece è no, e lasciate il tappo fuori dalla boccetta mentre aspettate che si asciughi lo smalto, allora occorre cambiare abitudini e ricordarsi di inserire sempre il tappo nella boccetta mentre non stiamo usando lo smalto. Inoltre, sarà bene imparare a pulire con un cotton fioc il collo della boccetta da residui di smalto (e magari imparare a non sbordare fuori), così da scongiurare qualsiasi tipo di ostruzione. È facile, ma bisogna avere la mano ferma e il cotton fioc (o il dischetto) non deve essere troppo imbevuto di solvente, che potrebbe cadervi nella boccetta e allora sì che sarebbero guai.  La soluzione migliore, secondo me, è quella di usare le salviette già imbevute di solvente, così non correrete alcun rischio. Le trovate praticamente ovunque, sia in profumeria che nei supermercati. Le migliori, o quelle con cui mi trovo meglio, sono quelle della Revlon e quelle di Kiko. E magari è un’occasione importante. E magari andiamo di fretta. Ora, se ci accorgiamo che lo smalto non va ( e lo capiamo non appena estraiamo il pennello dalla boccetta) è meglio non stenderlo affatto e cambiare smalto. Però, a volte non è così facile, direte voi, perché – e lo so bene- che lo smalto non tiene ce ne accorgiamo solo alla terza, quarta unghia, e nella stragrande maggioranza delle volte, abbiamo sempre scelto un colore scuro ( che implica un tempo maggiore per essere tolto). But all of these recommendations are useless when the damage is already done. And maybe just what we need to polish. And maybe it’s an important occasion. And maybe we’re in a hurry. Now, if we find that the glaze is not (and we understand just extract the brush from the bottle) is best not to spread it all and polish change. But sometimes it is not so easy, you say, because – and I know it very well- we find that the enamel is worn only at the third, fourth nail, and in many cases, we always chose a dark color (which implies a longer time to be removed).
Quindi, come fare? La soluzione migliore, oltre ad un controllo preventivo dello smalto che vogliamo indossare proprio in quella serata, è quella di togliere lo smalto (se lo abbiamo steso su una o due unghie) e prendere dell’alcool etilico. Avete presente quello che usiamo per disinfettare le cose? Esatto. Questo qui sotto.

Ne bastano poche gocce nella boccetta. Poche, mi raccomando. Chiudete il tappo ( e accertatevi che sia chiuso bene) e agitate lo smalto come fosse una maracas. Cinque minuti basteranno. It takes only a few drops in the bottle. Few, very few. Close the cap (and make sure they’re turned off) and shake the glaze like a maracas. Five minutes will suffice.    Questo come rimedio dell’ultimo momento. Consiglio, successivamente, e con un po’ di calma, di passare in rassegna tutti i vostri smalti. Prendete un pezzo di nastro adesivo trasparente. Passate sopra il pennellino. Se vedete che non scorre, o che fila subito, rivitalizzatelo come vi ho detto.

Lo producono diverse case cosmetiche, e lo trovate nelle migliori profumerie. Io posso consigliarvi quello di Mavala e quello di Clarissa nails.
The specific product to save your enamel is thinner. Many cosmetic companies produce it. I tried the Mavala’s and the Clarissa nails’s, and recommend them both.
