La parola "shabby" letteralmente significa trasandato. Coniata da una rivista d'interni negli anni 80' è diventata famosa solo dieci anni dopo grazie alla designer americana Rachel Ashwell che fonda una società con l'omonimo nome. Lo "shabby", nient'altro che il decapato nato in Francia all'epoca di Luigi XV, oggi è uno stile di arredamento fatto prevalentemente con materiali usati e di riciclo. Prevale il bianco e i colori chiari, sbiaditi che concorrono a creare un'effetto vissuto e romantico in un'atmosfera di grande luminosità. Tutto sembra messo lì a caso e consumato dal tempo: invece è il frutto di un attento studio che ritroviamo anche nella scelta dei complementi vecchi, nei piccoli oggetti scovati nei mercatini, nelle porcellane spaiate e nei tessuti logori. Un'eleganza senza sfarzo, che combina lo stile provenzale, quello vittoriano e un pizzico di immancabile retrò.

Main shades are white, light and pale, that are combined to create a romantic effect in a brightness atmosphere.
