After having seen Van Gogh's works in Paris and knowing that this period there is a huge show in Genoa, my sister and I were wondering what there might be of value in Amsterdam to make the Van Gogh Museum what it is. Well, I assure you that there are great works, which deserve just them a visit in Amsterdam.

Come vi dissi per il Rijksmuseum, conviene comprare il biglietto online o al Museo dei Diamanti - dove non c'è mai coda. Il Museo di Van Gogh è uno dei più frequentati (con una altissima percentuale di italiani!!) e il rischio di perdere tempo con l'acquisto del biglietto è alto.

Anche qui, come negli altri musei olandesi dove siamo state, l'allestimento è ben curato: si inizia nella prima stanza con opere giovanili di Vincent Van Gogh messe accanto ad altri artisti dell'epoca che hanno influenzato la sua opera. Si continua con i quadri dell'accademia - notevoli i quadri copiati da Van Gogh messi accanto agli originali: il tratto inconfondibile, la pennellata arrogante e la visione geniale di Vincent, sono già palesi.
Poi si passano alle sale con in classici e alle opere dell'ultimo periodo, fino a giungere agli autori che Van Gogh ha influenzato e influenzerà.
Notevoli anche alcuni Gauguin che sono presenti.
Here, as in other Dutch museums where we have been, the setting up was nice: you start in the first room with the early works by Vincent Van Gogh placed alongside other contemporary artists who have influenced his work. It continues with the paintings of the academy - the remarkable paintings by Van Gogh who copied other for exercise placed next to the originals: the unmistakable, the arrogant stroke of genius and the vision of Vincent, are here already evident.
Then you pass the rooms dedicated to the classics and the works of the last period, until you come to the authors who have been influenced by Van Gogh during his life and after his dead.
Noteworthy also some some Gauguin's works that are present.

Dopo la botta di fortuna di aver trovato la mostra Ottomania al Rijks, un'altra: la camera da letto di Van Gogh era fino a qualche giorno prima fuori dal museo per un'esposizione. Era da poco tornata ad Amsterdam, apposta per farsi ammirare da noi.

Un'opera celeberrima, che mi ha colpito come non avrei potuto immaginare (qui sì che dovete prepararvi alla sindrome di Stendhal) è quella che è considerata il testamento di Van Gogh. La conosciamo tutti, ma dal vivo lascia di stucco. Parlo ovviamente di Campo di Grano con Corvi.

A very famous work, which struck me as I couldn't imagine (this means that you should prepare yourself to Stendhal Syndrome) is what is considered Van Gogh's testament. We all know it, but it is breathtaking. I speak of course about Wheat Field with Crows.

Anche qui, vi è una mostra temporanea - fino al 17 giugno : DREAMS of NATURE - symbolism from Van Gogh to Kandinsky.La mostra offre poche opere che ho trovato di grande valore (giust'appunto il Van Gogh, il Kandinsky, e - bellissima - la malinconia di Munch), ma ho trovato geniale l'interattività della mostra. 
All'ingresso di poteva scaricare un'app con il proprio smartphone (per fortuna io avevo Beatrice con me) che ad ogni opera della mostra collegava una spiegazione e la inseriva in un contesto. Ad alcune opere poi erano collegati due pezzi musicali: uno dell'epoca e uno scritto nel 2012. Per chi non aveva un cellulare adatto, vi erano degli iPad sparsi per le stanze (anche queste, molto ben allestite) che permettevano la stessa cosa, con tanto di cuffie per ascoltare i pezzi.
Ho trovato l'impostazione della mostra molto interessante e i brani scelti con accortezza. Io non sono un'amante del simbolismo e non mi aspettavo che quindi le opere figurative mi facessero impazzire, però è stata una piacevolissima visita.

Here too, there is a temporary exhibition - until June 17: DREAMS of NATURE - symbolism from Van Gogh to Kandinsky.
The exhibition offers a few works I found of great value (just the Van Gogh, the Kandinsky, and - beautiful - the melancholy by Munch), but I found the interactivity of the show so so brilliant.
At the beginning of the show you can download an app with your smartphone (luckily I had Beatrice with me) that linked to every work an explanation and inserted it in a context. Someworks were then connected two tracks of music: one written at the same period of the works and another written in 2012.For those who did not have a suitable mobile phone, there were scattered through the rooms some iPad (even these, beautifully installed) that allowed the same thing, complete with headphones to listen to the tracks.
I found the setting of the show very interesting and the songs were chosen with care. I am not a lover of symbolism and I was not expecting that so I knew works would not drive me crazy, but it was a pleasant visit.

Siccome il giorno in cui siamo andate noi, pioveva a dirotto, non abbiamo potuto fare altro che fermarci in caffetteria (non abbiamo nemmeno fatto la celeberrima foto sedute sulla scritta I amsterdam :( ), la quale è davvero accogliente, piacevole e ben arredata - ma con prezzi decisamente molto molto alti.

Since the day we go, it was raining heavily, we could not help but stop in the cafeteria (we have not even had ​​the famous photo sessions sitting on the writing I amsterdam :( ), which is really welcoming, pleasant and well furnished - but with very very high prices.
