The Crunch

1977 BMW R80/7 "The Crunch" by Traumwerk (tr. Dream factory) - Leonstein, Austria 

Built in April 2014, Traumwerk dedicated this bike to the legendary board-track racers from the first half of the twentieth century, riders who risked their necks at speeds up to 200 km/h without brakes... 
Costruita nell’aprile 2014, alla “fabbrica dei Sogni” hanno dedicato questa moto ai leggendari piloti di board-track della prima metà del 900, gente che rischiava l’osso del collo a velocità vicine ai 200 km/h senza freni...

Despite the vintage look of this bike, the engine, repainted sulfur yellow is certainly the first thing which comes to attention and, like it or not, gives this build a real touch of originality. The bodywork has been left outside enough time to get a rust patina in line with the name given to the bike. The rear part of the frame has been entirely redesigned and rebuilt. At Traumwerk they are particularly happy with the result, saying that the ease of riding has been improved. 
Nonostante il look vintage di questa moto, il motore, riverniciato giallo zolfo, è sicuramente la prima cosa che richiama l’attenzione e, piaccia o meno, dà a questa moto un autentico tocco di originalità. La carrozzeria è stata lasciata all’aperto il tempo necessario a ottenere una patina di ruggine in linea con il nome “Crunch” (scricchiolìo) dato alla moto. La parte posteriore del telaio è stata interamente riprogettata e ricostruita. Alla Traumwerk sono particolarmente soddisfatti del risultato, affermando che la facilità di guida è stata migliorata. 

The handlebar has a large classic shape, completed with vintage rubber grips, British-style levers and bakelite switchgears. / Il manubrio ha una larga forma classica, completato con manopole in gomma d'epoca, leve in stile vintage inglese e comandi elettrici in bachelite.

The seat is a replica of the Mesinger Racer used on many American motorcycles between the two world wars. / Il sellino è una replica dei Mesinger Racer utilizzati su molte moto americane tra le due guerre mondiali.

Electrics have been simplified and a new gel battery has been relocated in a lower position in the new rear frame. The taillight is from an old tractor. Indicators are modern LED technology parts. The overall weight of the bike has been reduced to 175 kg. For once, something new on the shene of custom Beemers.
L’impianto elettrico è stato semplificato e una nuova batteria al gel è stato posizionata in una posizione più in basso nel nuovo telaio posteriore. Il fanale posteriore è di un vecchio trattore.
