THE NAIL by Leonard Wong and Daichi Yasuda

Qualche giorno fa nella mia pagina FACEBOOK ho condiviso con voi il fashion video THE NAIL dello stilista Leonard Wong, realizzato dal regista  Daichi Yasuda. Di Leonard avevo già parlato in passato, proponendovi un’intervista e presentandovi le sua collezione CAPACITY (cliccate sui nomi per saperne di più).

Visionando il video e ovviamente rimanendone ipnotizzata ho subito contattato lo stilista per saperne di più, cosa gli ho chiesto? Leggete.

Lilly: The video is a travel into the structural world where the nail is the key. Why the nail?

Leonard: The nail has always been crucial for constructions. This simple yet highly functional design has barely altered throughout the ages, making it a timeless necessity for all. I strive to create designs that will do the same. In the fashion film, you see the nail penetrating through parallel worlds, the traditional, the present and the future, with the same minimalistic yet masculine chicness with each design.

Lilly: The minimalist space is in opposite with your creation. Empty space that you fill with your sculpted clothes. Can you explain us where you took inspiration?

Leonard: In the first scene, the girl stands in a blank world. This represents the “beginning of creation”. Both the directer, Daichi Yasuda, and I came up with this concept.

Lilly: Can you tell us more about you collaboration with Daichi Yasuda?

Leonard: Mr. Yasuda and I had previously worked together during the Japan Expo. Although it was a short project, we found that we shared the same vision for fashion and decided that we’d like to create a video together.

Lilly: Which kind of woman can and wants to wear your amazing creation?

Leonard: Both the first and second line of Leonard Wong is aimed for women who are looking for self confidence and inner strength. My duty as a designer is to design clothes that will draw out that strength that lays in all of us.

Daichi Yasuda, nato a Fukushima nel 1980, è regista e direttore artistico. Tra i lavori a lui commissionati: VP of NIKE, CM of adidas, TVCM of Mr.Children, Namie Amuro’s live image, BACK DROP BOMB, MV of the THE opposition party, ecc. Nel 2010 è premiato al Spikes Asia Advertising Festival.
