E’ questo il titolo dell’ultimo post della blogger egiziana Zeinobia, scritto dopo aver udito sabato sera a Dream TV 2 le parole del salafita Morgan Al-Gohary. Questi si è vantato di aver partecipato nel 2001 alla distruzione dei buddha di Bamijan in Afghanistan, e di voler distruggere tutti gli idoli pagani d’Egitto, persino le piramidi e la sfinge. Ecco parte del dialogo con il conduttore della trasmissione Wael Al-Abrashi, così come riportato sul sito della CNN:
Al-Abrashi: “Am I going to wake up tomorrow to find that, just as you did with the statue of Buddha, that you have demolished the Sphinx and the pyramids?”
Al-Gohary: “That is dependent upon abilities and possibility. According to our Sharia, every pagan and idol must be destroyed.”
Al-Abrashi: “If you are in power, will you destroy the Sphinx and the pyramids and all the pharoanic statues and all the pharoanic artifacts?”
Al-Gohary: “Everything, if it is a pagan statue or idol, that is worshiped or suspected to be worshipped, or is worshipped by one person on Earth, must be destroyed. We, or someone else, must destroy it.”
Al-Abrashi: “So you would destroy the Sphinx and the pyramids?”
Al-Gohary: “Yes, we will destroy them, if they were worshipped before or afterwards.”
Non si può correre il rischio, dice Al-Gohary, che piramidi e sfinge tornino a essere oggetto di devozione. Peccato che la stragrande maggioranza dell’umanità vorrebbe al contrario evitare il rischio di perderle. Persino gli egiziani più integralisti ma realisti, consapevoli che il turismo è la maggiore industria del paese. I pericoli derivanti da una possibile deriva salafita in Egitto sono molteplici e multiformi. Così Zeinobia suggerisce ironicamente uno slogan all’agonizzante industria del turismo del suo paese: “Visit the Pyramids while you can!”. Finché sono ancora in piedi. Magari i turisti accorreranno a frotte. Magari, è auspicabile, sapranno aiutare ad arginare la minaccia salafita.
