Quelli di cui vi parlo oggi sono di una marca ben famosa, Hermès, ma allo stesso tempo sono prodotti di nicchia, come piacciono a me, dall' aroma fantastico.
9 semplici fragranze dai nomi evocativi compongono questa collezione delle Hermessences, disponibili solo nelle boutiques Hermès. Il progetto ha dato carta bianca, senza vincoli di marketing, al naso della maison francese, il famoso (nel campo) Jean Claude Ellena per offrire il lusso da odorare, con profumi semplici, di pochi componenti, ma ottimi. I nomi sono esotici, e al solo sentirli (pronunciare o col naso!), ci fanno viaggiare in terre lontane.

These ones are from the famous brand Hermès, but they're niche products.
9 Simple fragrances with evocative names compose this collection, called Hermessences, available only in the Hermès boutiques. The project has no marketing bond, and the perfumes are created by the famous Jean Claude Ellena, nose of the brand, that gives the luxury to smell, with simple fragrances, of few but very good components.
The names are exotics and, only by their pronunciation they send our mind to far lands.
Rosa Ikebana: "Estetizzante e minimalista, la tradizionale arte giapponese dell'ikebana, che compone bouquet con pochi elementi, floreali e vegetali, corrisponde idealmente a una forma espressiva che ho potuto tradurre in profumo. Il profumo mattutino di una rosa bagnata di rugiada, delicata e leggera."
é questo che dice il profumiere Jean-Claude Ellena, che ha ricavato la fragranza da petali di rosa e rabarbaro, creando un profumo delicato e leggero, aereo.
Rose Ikebana: "Beautiful and minimalist, the traditional Japanese art of ikebana - arranging bouquets of cut flowers and leaves using very few elements - ideally corresponded to a form of expression I could transpose in a perfume. The smell of a rose early in the morning, damp, sprinkled with dew, delicate and light."
This is what Jean Claude Ellena says about the fragrance, that comes from rose petals and rhubarb, creating a light, aereal and fine smell.
Osmanthe Yunnan: ""Visitando a Pechino la Città proibita, fui colpito da un odore sublime che guidò la punta del mio naso fino al Palazzo imperiale in cui fioriscono gli osmanti. A novembre, i loro fiori emanano acuti sentori d'albicocca e di fresia. L'idea del profumo è nata immaginando di abbinarli a un tè dello Yunnan, la più bella provincia della Cina." L' immagine che ci da questo profumo è, come gli altri della linea, di una brezza leggera che ci porta questa fresca fragranza dalla Cina più segreta: tè, arancio, osmanto, fresia, albicocco.
"During a visit to the Forbidden City in Beijing, I was captivated by an exquisite smell that led me by the tip of my nose to the Imperial Palace, where osmanthus bushes were in bloom. In November, the flowers exuded a strong scent of apricot and freesia. I imagined combining these blossoms with a tea from Yunnan, the most beautiful province in China... and the idea for the fragrance was born.". A light wind that brings this fresh fragrance from the most secret China: tea, orange, osmanthus, apricot and freesia.
Brin de Réglisse: "Un profumo che esprime il freddo e il caldo, il secco e il dolce. Paesaggio di Provenza, terra secca, campi viola odorosi,vento di maestrale. E in sovraimpressione, il gusto della liquirizia. Si è introdotti dalla luce pura di una lavanda stilizzata e ci si ritrova nell'oscuro velluto della liquirizia.". La provenza e la vita contadina del fiore d' arancio, lanvanda, fieno e liquirizia.
Brin de Règlisse: "A fragrance that blows cool and warm, dry and sweet. A landscape in Provence, dry earth, fragrant purple fields, the wind of the mistral... draped in a luxurious coat of mouthwatering licorice. The fragrance opens with the pure light of stylized lavender only to move into the velvety black of licorice." Provence and rural life of orange flower, lavender, hay and licorice.
Vétiver Tonka: "Accostato dapprima al femminile, poi, nel tempo, al maschile, questo odore aspro, ruvido e terroso del vetiver mi attraeva. Avevo bisogno di appropriarmene, di reinventarlo. Desideravo un vetiver tenero, avvolgente e caloroso. La fava tonka era la soluzione! Con i suoi sentori di caramello, di pralina, di tabacco biondo, ho circondato il vetiver di dolcezza e ho conferito grazia alle sue note legnose."
Vetiver Tonka: "Initially used in fragrances for women and - with time - in fragrances for men, the unrefined, rough, earthy scent of vetiver appealed to me. I had to appropriate and reinvent it. I wanted a tender, enveloping, warm vetiver. What it needed was tonka bean! With its caramel, praline and blonde tobacco notes, tonka bean draped vetiver in softness and gave its woody notes a mellow roundness."
Iris Ukiyoé: ""Appassionato di stampe, avevo in mente gli iris del "mondo fluttuante", ukiyoé in giapponese, di Hokusai e di Hiroshige. È ciò che mi ha ispirato nella composizione di questo gioco intorno ad un iris floreale. Avevo voglia di prendermi gioco dell'approccio classico all'iris, lavorando sui sentori misconosciuti del fiore. La fragranza, delicata ma molto presente, oscilla tra le note di rosa, fiori d' arancio e mandarino, espresse con piccoli tocchi impressionisti.". Mandarino, arancia, note d' acqua, floreali, legnose e d' Iris. Nulla da aggiungere alla descrizione di Ellena.
Iris Ukiyoè: "I collect prints and have a mental picture of irises in the "floating world" (the ukiyoé in Japanese) in the works of Hokusai or Hiroshige. They inspired me when I was writing this divertimento based on floral iris. I felt like foiling the classic approach to iris by working on the flower's fragrances which are virtually unknown. The perfume is delicate but very much there, shifting between roses, orange blossom and mandarin, all expressed by small, impressionistic touches." Mandarin, orange, water notes, flower ones, woodies and Iris ones. Nothing more.
Vanille Galante: "Un invito alla scoperta di un'altra vaniglia, insolita, complessa e paradossale, come una pianta fragile dopo un lungo inverno, della quale si auspica la rifioritura, ancor più sorprendente. Il profumo di un fiore singolare, lieve come un aliseo, che aleggia sotto il nostro naso con le sue sfumature di spezie, cognac e di legno affumicato, fra petalo e sigaro, pelle e cacao.". Fiori e spezie dolci, rimane comunque troppo dolce per i miei gusti.
Vanille Galante: "An invitation to rediscover another vanilla, an unusual, complex and paradoxical one, like a fragile plant after a long winter, one you hope to see flower again, all the more unexpectedly... The fragrance of a strange flower, light as a trade wind, wafting under our noses with hints of spice, cognac and smoked wood, somewhere between petals and cigars, skin and cocoa.". Flowers and sweet spices, it remains too much sweet for me.
Poivre Samarcande: Samarcanda è una bellissima città nel centro dell' Utzbekistan, sull' antica via della Seta. Mi immagino di raggiungerla a cavallo, nel deserto: un profumo caldo (per il legno) e frizzante, pungente (pepe) . "Bella, massiccia, ma ingombrante, una quercia cresceva davanti a casa mia e nascondeva la vista sul Mediterraneo. Quando ha dovuto essere abbattuta perchè malata, l'odore pepato, muschiato, leggermente affumicato del legno tagliato è rimasto impresso nella mia memoria. La quercia, unita al pepe, ha conservato il suo spirito in questo profumo. Esso ha preso il nome di Samarcande, in omaggio a quella città che rappresentò un passaggio obbligato tra l'Oriente e l'Occidente per le carovane di spezie."
Poivre Samarcande: Samarkand is a wonderful city in the center of Utzbekstan, on the old silk road. I imagine to reach it on a horse, in the desert: a hot fragrance (woody notes) and sparkling (as the pepper). "A massive, beautiful oak tree once grew in front of my house, blocking our view of the Mediterranean. Eventually, it grew ill and was felled.The peppery, musky, slightly smoky scent of the cut wood etched itself in my memory.The soul of the old oak, mixed with pepper, lives on in this fragrance. The name Samarcande is an homage to the city through which spice caravans once passed on their way from East to West."
Paprika Brasil: "È la parola"'brasile", con la quale si designa un legno tintorio usato per colorare le stoffe di rosso, a dare il nome al paese. Per il suo potere evocativo, questo "legno da brace" ha acceso la mia immaginazione, e per valorizzarlo ho scelto la paprica. In un gioco di corrispondenze, ne ho materializzato l'odore, più segreto e discreto del suo gusto." Paprika e legno addolciti dall' iris, nel centro della foresta amazzonica più selvaggia.
Paprika Brasil: "A tinctorial wood to colour fabrics red, 'brasil wood' gave its name to the country. With its power of suggestion, "bois de braise" sparked my imagination and I chose paprika to illustrate it. By mixing and matching, I recreated its scent, which is more secretive and discreet than its taste." Paprika and wood softened by iris, in the center of the most wild Amazonic Rainforest.
Ambre Narguilé: Fumare un narghilè in un bazaar di Istanbul. Rumori lontani e i caldi sapori dolci di miele, per poi approdare all' ambra, forte e decisa. "L'ambra, espressione occidentale dei profumi d'Oriente, ha un odore caldo, avvolgente, affine a quello di una cammella. A quest'ambra fantastica ho voluto restituire il ricordo dell'Oriente che amo, in cui il narghilè, la pipa ad acqua, si fuma associando al tabacco profumi di frutti, miele, spezie, e in cui le volute di fumo effondono una dolce ebbrezza."
Ambre Narguilè: Smoking a hookah in a Istanbul bazaar. Far noises and the hot sweet flavours of honey, to than arrive at the strong Amber. "Amber, the Western expression of Eastern fragrances, has a warm, enveloping, almost carnal smell. I wanted to imbue this idea of amber with the memory of the East I love where tobacco - blended with the smells of fruit, honey and spices - is smoked in narguilés, or water pipes, and where swirls of smoke diffuse a sweet sense of intoxication.
I profumi si possono acquistare in varie confezioni: quella singola da 100 ml, con o senza una raffinata custodia di pelle intorno (che però alza il prezzo di 240 euro!), oppure, per scoprirle, nel cofanetto con 4 flaconcini da 25 di vari profumi a scelta. Io ho questo: le fragranze sono semplici e progettate in modo da dare il meglio di sè anche mescolate, così che di solito mischio vetiver deciso che si addolcisce a un pepe frizzante che mi dà l' idea di dei cavalli che corrono nel deserto (i profumi più buoni evocano sensazioni bellissime, come poesie). Il risultato è un caldo profumo invernale che ti culla, quasi.
You can buy the fragrances in various confections: the single of 100 ml, with also, if you want, a fine leather case (that increases the price of 205£!) or, to discover them, in the box of 4 vials of 25 ml, of various scents to your's choice. I've this one: simple fragrances that are projected to give the best of them also mixed, so that I use vetiver (on me it becomes sweeter) and sparkling pepper, that gives the idea of horses running in the desert (the best perfumes evocate wonderful sensations, such as poetries). The result is a hot, winter fragrance that almost cradles you.

Io, come potete vedere, ho Vetiver Tonka, Poivre Samarcanda e Rose Ikebana. La rosa è buona e fresca ma un po' troppo dolce, il pepe e il vetiver sono ottimi e ve li consiglio. Altri buoni mi pare siano Osmanto e Paprika. Mi ricordo che l' ambra era un' ambra forte, come si deve, mentre non credo di aver annusato gli altri, ma posso dire che quelli che conosco io sono ottimi profumi.
I, as you can see, have Vetiver Tonka, Poivre Samarcande and Rose Ikebana. Rose is quite good and fresh, but too much sweet, pepper and vetiver are great and I suggest them. If I remember well, I also liked Osmanthe Yunnan and Paprika Brasil. I remember amber was strong as it should be, while I don't belive I' ve sniffed the others. However I can say they're great fragrances.
