White shirt story

E' uno dei capi basic per ecellenza e torna a far cpolino nel guardaroba femminile anche questa primavera-estate 2015: la camicia bianca
Un capo che ha fatto storia – di recente è stata perfino protagonista della mostra dedicata a Gianfranco Ferrè "La camicia bianca secondo me" –  molto amato dalle donne che viene reinterpretato dai designer quasi ogni stagione.
Inizialmente era indossata in funzione del momento del bagno, quando erano in comune tra uomo e donna, poi diventa il capo per separare la pelle del corpo dagli indumenti di tessuto più pesante; dono e pegno d’amore nel Medioevo, finchè alla fine del Seicento, quando fu ornata di pizzi, divenne uno status symbol che divideva l’aristocrazia dalla plebe. 
Attorno al 1860 cominciarono a comparire le prime camicie colorate, all’inizio portate solo per gli abiti da giorno, mentre per quelle da sera il bianco restava di rigore.
Durante gli anni Venti fu molto di moda la cosiddetta camicia button down, con il collo fermato da due bottoncini frontali. 
Indossata e resa celebre poi dalle dive hollywoodiane che intorno agli anni Quaranta la rendono una vera moda: prima Ava Gardner con il modello a maniche corte, poi Lauren Bacall la porta da uomo e stretta in vita in Key largo; fino agli anni Cinquanta quendo tocca a Audrey Hepburn in Vacanze Romane indossarla, stretta con le maniche arrotolate e colletto rialzato.
A basic garment back in women's wardrobe for spring-summer 2015: the white shirt, a piece that made history – and recently was the star of the exhibition dedicated to Gianfranco Ferre - much loved by women, and reinterpreted by designers almost every season.
Initially it was worn at the time of the bath, when shared between man and woman, then it becomes the cloth to separate the clothing of heavy fabric to the naked body; gift and token of love in the Middle Ages, and at the end of the seventeenth century, when it was adorned with lace, it became a very status symbol that divided the aristocracy by the mob. 
Around 1860 it began to appear colored shirts, at the beginning only for day wear, while for the evening remained mandatory the white shirt.
During the twenties was very fashionable the so-called button down shirt, with the neck stopped by two frontal buttons. 
Worn and then made famous by the Hollywood stars in the forties, like Ava Gardner with a model with short sleeves, and then Lauren Bacall that wore a male white shirt in Key largo; in the fifties is up to Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday, that wore it with rolled-up sleeves and collar turned up.
