Karl Lagerfeld, direttore creativo della maison Chanel, ha annunciato che la prossima sfilata “Métiers d’Art” si svolgerà a Dallas. L’ultima pre-collezione della casa di moda francese è stata presentata a dicembre nelle rovine del castello di Linlithgow

, vicino a Edimburgo.
“Per fare l’opposto – ha dichiarato Karl Lagerfeld – la prossima volta, tra un anno, andrò a Dallas. Sapete perché? Prima di tutto, adoro il Texas. Adoro i texani. C’è un altro motivo, poi. Quando Chanel riaprì la casa di moda, la stampa francese fu oltremodo terribile con lei. Gli unici giornalisti che seppero comprenderla furono gli americani per cui penso che sia una bella cosa andare là”.
Lo stilista ha poi spiegato quali siano gli elementi che lo conducono a decidere il luoghi.
“Di solito – ha detto – cerco di trovare un vago collegamento. Per la Scozia è stato facile perché il suo amante andava a caccia con lei in Scozia ed è così che ha scoperto i tweed. Andava molto spesso a Venezia, quindi ho fatto una sfilata a Venezia. Ha avuto un amante russo e amava l’arte russa, per cui ho organizzato una sfilata in Russia. Cerco di trovare una connessione, ma a volte è estremamente vaga. Nel caso del Texas, si tratta di un particolare, ma a partire da un piccolo particolare si può costruire un’intera storia. E, per quello, sono un narratore di storie”.

Karl Lagerfeld, creative director of Chanel, announced that the brand’s next “Métiers d’Art” show will be held in Dallas. The latest pre-collection of the French fashion house was staged in December among the ruins of Linlithgow Castle, near Edinburgh.
“To do the opposite,” said Karl Lagerfeld “next time, in a year, I will go to Dallas. You know why? First of all, I love Texas. I love Texans. There’s another reason. When Chanel reopened, the French press was beyond nasty. The only press that understood it immediately was the American press, so I think it’s a nice thing to go there.”
The designer then explained what are the elements that lead him to the decision about the place.
“Normally”, he said, “I try to find a vague connection. For Scotland, it was easy because her lover was hunting with her in Scotland and it is how she discovered tweeds. She went to Venice a lot, that’s why I did a show in Venice. She had a Russian lover, and loved Russian art, and so I did it in Russia. I try to find a connection, but the connection is often very vague. With Texas, it’s a detail, but with little detail, you can make a whole story. I am a storyteller for that.”
