Fly in the wind

Ieri abbiamo volato nel vento. Capita spesso che il lago si agiti per le folate fredde che scendono dalle montagne.  La sua superficie di solito piatta e scura si tinge di bianco, si arruffa di onde corte e nervose. E' il momento giusto per divertirsi tra i frangenti: bassi, ravvicinati, aggressivi... e gelati. Le previsioni erano chiare: vento da nord, in rinforzo nel pomeriggio. Abbiamo pagaiato da Cerro di Laveno fino a Caldè in poco più di due ore, abbiamo pranzato e abbiamo aspettato: quando il vento è arrivato, siamo tornati indietro con lui, in meno di quaranta minuti! Abbiamo volato, rincorrendo il vento e rincorrendoci l'un l'altra. Abbiamo urlato, saltando tra gli spruzzi e scivolando tra le onde. Abbiamo riso, anche, e planato fino a toccare punte di 20 chilometri orari! E tutt'intorno c'era solo acqua: il mondo correva via troppo in fretta per poterlo mettere a fuoco... Avrei continuato all'infinito, anche se col fiato corto: è stata un'emozione unica, come quella che da bambina mi prendeva allo stomaco ogni volta che salivo sull'altalena. Ho capito che il kayak può farti correre nel vento. Per inseguire i sogni. Raggiungerli e trasformarli in realtà. A volte basta davvero poco per essere felici!

Yesterday we flown in the wind. The forecasts were clear: north wind, gale in the afternoon. The lake often gets excited for the cold gusts coming down from the mountains.  Its flat and dark surface becames white, the waves are low, closer and nervous. And very cold. We paddled north from Cerro of Laveno up to Caldè in few more than two hours. Than we had lunch and we waited: when the wind arrived, we paddled back with him in less than forty minutes! We flown, running into the wind. We howled and laughed also, planing on the waves with a speed of 20 km/h! Around us only water, the land run away too fast to be able to bring it into focus... I understood that the kayak can make you rush into the wind. To pursue a dream. To reach it and turn it into a reality... Sometimes be happy is very easy!
