L’olandese Robert Gesink (Rabobank) vince il Giro di California 2012. Gesink si era aggiudicato la tappa più difficile, la Ontario – Mt.Baldy, ipotecando così la vittoria finale. L’ultima frazione infatti era in pratica una kermesse per le strade di Los Angeles (solo 72km). Ad aggiudicarsi la volata nientemeno che Peter Sagan (Liquigas Cannondale).
Dietro allo slovacco della Liquigas Cannondale (che si aggiudica largamente la classifica a punti), si sono piazzati Tom Boonen e Gerald Ciolek, entrambi dell’Omega Pharma Quick Step. L’australiano Robbie McEwen invece chiude con il Giro di California la sua carriera da professionista.
