I's Fashion Week War... Again

If you thought that the fashion month show scheduling nightmare was over, you thought wrong. But let's start from the beginning. New York agreed to move its spring show dates back to September 6, 2012, and Milan and London agreed to a subsequent second Thursday of the month New York start date for the 2013 and 2014 seasons. But Milan had two conditions: They wanted New York to cut its fashion week by one day so that editors could make it to London’s menswear shows (which are usually eclipsed by the first day of Milan shows), and that all the cities–Paris included–had to agree.
Well, Paris doesn’t agree. The Chambre Syndicale just released the 2013 and 2014 show dates, and they plan to start their spring shows a week earlier than the suggested October 2 and October 1 start dates. Didier Grumbach, the president of the Chambre Syndicale, said: “It was perfectly open and clear and very obvious that our members could not accept this…We fall at the end of the calendar. All of the member houses agreed that this would make them very late in taking orders, which in turn would be penalizing for deliveries. It’s an industrial reason you are a manufacturer, you need your orders early." On the other side, CFDA refuses to give up their last day of shows, which usually feature Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren’s shows. Mario Boselli of the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana told WWD, “One thing is sure: it’s unthinkable for Milan and Paris to overlap. We were very clear, we tried to find a solution, but we didn’t succeed. We were going to move if Paris was also moving. As Paris is not moving, we won’t either. Perhaps the only way out would be for the Americans to reduce their fashion week to seven days, as nine days is too long, and start a couple of days after Labor Day.” E' ancora Guerra delle Fashion Week Se pensavate che l'incubo del calendario del mese della moda fosse finito, vi sbagliate. New York era d'accordo a spostare le date delle sfilate per la p/e 2013 al 6 settembre 2012 e Milano e Londra per la stagione 2013-14, erano d'accordo a spostare le loro date, in modo da far cominciare le sfilate di New York il secondo giovedi di settembre. Ma Milano avrebbe accettato a due condizioni. La prima, e' quella di togliere un giorno alla settimana della moda newyorkese, in modo che la stampa potesse arrivare in tempo per le collezioni uomo presentate a Londra (che di solito vengono eclissate dal primo giorno delle sfilate milanesi) e la seconda condizione, e' che tutte le citta' - compresa Parigi- accettassero l'accordo.  Bene, Parigi non e' per nulla d'accordo. La Chambre Syndicale ha appena pubblicato le date delle sfilate per il 2013 e 2014 e presenteranno le loro collezioni una settimana prima di quanto si sarebbe dovotuto cominciare (1 e 2 ottobre). Didier Grumbach, presidente della Chambre Syndicale ha dichiarato: "Era perfettamente chiaro e ovvio che i nostri membri non avrebbero mai accettato queste condizioni... Noi siamo alla fine del calendario. Tutte le maison membre erano d'accordo che questo spostamento li avrebbe fatti ritardare nel prendere gli ordini, e di conseguenza, ritardare nelle consegne. E' un motivo industriale, sei un manufatturiero, non puoi fare gli ordini in ritardo." Dall'altro lato il CDFA, rifiuta di perdere l'ultimo giorno delle sfilate, che di solito vede come protagonisti Ralph Lauren e Calvin Klein.  Mario Boselli della Camera Nazionale della Moda, ha dichiarato al WWD: "Ona cosa e' certa, e' impensabile che Parigi e Milano si sovrappongano. Siamo stati molto chiari, abbiamo cercato di trovare una soluzione, ma senza successo. Ci saremmo spostati se anche Parigi fosse stata d'accordo nel farlo. Ma dato che Parigi non lo fara', neanche noi lo faremo. Forse l'unica via d'uscita e' se gli americani riduressero la loro fashion week da nove a sette giorni, dato che e' troppo lunga e cominciare qualche giorno dopo la festa dei lavoratori."
