Independent fab: not just any fridge, not the usual jeans.

Smeg and Italia Independent contaminate the icons of the past to produce a new style icon. For over 60 years, Smeg have designed, and continue to design, appliances to adorn homesaround the world, and Italia Independent, a brand of creativity and style, have contaminated two icons: the FAB28 fridge and denim. Is it art for art's sake? No, it is creativity for the home, style for every day.
Combine and reinterpret. Using objects from the past and traditional ideas andstitching them together with style and refinement. These are the actions that have inspire the two Italian brands to produce not just objects, but items that have their own story to tell, their own way of being and communicating. This is how the first fridge to be entirely covered in denim came into being. Not just any fridge, not the usual type of jeans. The FAB28 with its colour range and its soft and rounded features is a leading player in everyday spaces, a functional yet decorative icon. Denim has always been a part of everyone's imagination and communicates freshness and comfort, rebellion and style. It goes without saying that in order to use it in a domestic context, the fabric, itself a mix of tradition and innovation, is treated with PLASMA, a nano-technology, which protects the surface of the fridge from splashes of water, oil, milk and fruit juices. Combining the style of the past and the most up-to-date and functional technology: in this synthesis we find the creativity that Smeg and Italia Independent have sought. The FAB28 denim, made in a limited number of just 500 pieces, will have its world premiere at the Salone del Mobile in Milan. Additionally, this extraordinary example of tailored technology can be admired at the Smeg showroom in Corso Monforte 30 in Milan, from 16 April onwards. In occasione dell'apertura del Salone del Mobile di Milano, Smeg e Italia Independent   hanno presentato in corso Monforte 30/3, la loro collaborazione, all'insegna del motto "coniugare e reinterpretare": il frigo in Denim FAB28RD Limited edition in soli 500 pezzi.
Smeg, che da oltre 60 anni crea elettrodomestici per arredare le case del mondo, modifica il Logo (la lettera "e" che diviene tricolore) in occasione della collaborazione con Italia Independent, brand di creatività e stile. Coniugare e reinterpretare, dunque significa unire due oggetti che ormai da decenni appartengono alla vita di tutti noi, il frigo e il jeans, reinterpretandoli con stile e raffinatezza. Cuciture sartoriali, denim rpotagonista, italianità che soprende. Il FAB28, con il colore e le sue linee morbide e bombate, è il protagonista degli spazi quotidiani, un’icona della funzionalità che arreda. Il denim da sempre veste l’immaginario collettivo e comunica freschezza e comodità, ribellione e stile. Naturalmente, per consentirne l’utilizzo negli ambienti domestici, il tessuto, frutto di un mix di tradizione e innovazione, è stato trattato al PLASMA, una nano-tecnologia a freddo e sottovuoto che protegge la superficie del frigorifero da schizzi d’acqua, olio, latte, succhi di frutta.
