L’ultima settimana della mia sfida! Sono riuscita, come mi ero sfidata, ad indossare almeno un articolo al giorno che avevo fatto io, se fatto da zero o refashioned in qualche modo, sia vestiti che accessori. Devo dire che sono molto contenta di com’è andato questo mese. Temevo di passare la metà del mese con vestiti comprati e solo una collana o qualcosa del genere. Invece ho ripetuto i miei vestiti piuttosto poco e mi sono spinta anche a fare diversi progetti nuovi durante questo periodo (il motivo per il quale non ho i post ancora per ogni capo o accessorio, ma verranno, verranno…). Figuratevi, uno dei progetti nuovi ho finito giusto in tempo per il cambio di tempo che abbiamo avuto qui in Campania, con l’arrivo di pioggia e temperature basse, e quindi non l’ho neanche indossato in questo mese. Be’, lo vedrete prima o poi, e anche gli altri progetti.
The last week of my Me-Made-May ’13 challenge! I managed to wear, as I’d pledged, at least one of my own handmade (whether from scratch or refashioning somehow) articles of clothing or accessories each day. I must say that I’m pretty happy how it’s gone this month. I was worried that I’d end up half the month with regular store-bought clothes and just a me-made necklace or something. But I repeated clothes pretty infrequently and I pushed myself to even make various new clothes during this month (the reason why I don’t have posts ready for each garment or accessory, but they’ll be here sometime…). Go figure, I’d even completed a new project just in time for the weather to change here in Southern Italy, with the arrival of much rain and lowered temperatures, so I wasn’t even able to wear it in the end. Well, you’ll see it sooner or later, as well as the other projects.
Una cosa che mi ha fatto tanto piacere è che questa sfida ha cambiato come mi vesto ogni giorno. Non lavoro fuori casa in questo periodo, quindi c’è la tendenza di mettermi sempre gli stessi vestiti comodi per giorni di fila. Ma dovendomi fare la foto ogni giorno e farla vedere al mondo mi ha dato la spinta di cercare di vestirmi minimamente decentemente (a parte alcuni giorni, ad esempio il giorno in cui mio figlio mi ha vomitato adosso…) e anche in modo più vario. Indosso comunque le mie creazioni regolarmente, ma non ogni giorno. Questa sfida mi ha fatto rivalutare molto come mi vesto e sono contenta di vedere uscire dalle foto un certo stile. La prossima volta dovrò farlo più difficile, tipo di indossare solo vestiti fatti da me e di seconda mano, o qualcosa del genere. Vedremmo! Per ora, gli ultimi cinque giorni:
Something that I really liked was that this challenge changed how I dressed each day. I don’t work outside the home these days, so I always have the tendency to wear the same comfy clothes days in a row. But having to take a picture each day and show it to the world pushed me to dress somewhat decently (except for some days, for example the day my son threw up all over me…) and also with more variation. I do normally wear my own creations, but not every day. This challenge helped me re-evaluate how I dress and I’m happy to see a particular style in these photos. Next time I’ll have to make it more difficult on myself, like wearing only me-mades and thrifted clothes, or something. We’ll see! For now, the last five days:

Nella villa comunale. Sì, lo stesso maglione del giorno precedente (mi ero vestita di fretta) e una sciarpa. Faceva fresco e avevo perso la voce dopo aver preso troppo freddo il 25 Maggio sul molo di Bagnoli.

Questa volta sono stata io a suggerire di fare la foto anche alla mia Sofia perché era vestiti in ben tre cose che le avevo fatto. Solo che non c’era nessun altro a scattare la foto, quindi siamo separati. Io sono vestita in modo simile al 15 Maggio giusto per far vedere la differenza quando ho rifatto le cuciture dei leggings nel colore giusto. Va molto meglio, anche se è difficile con quelle strisce.

This time I was the one to suggest taking a photo of my Sofia, too, because she was dressed in three things I’d made her. Except there wasn’t anyone else there to take the picture, so we’re separate. I’m dressed similarly to May 15 just to show the difference after resewing the leggings seams in the right color thread. It’s much less noticeable, though it’s hard to get perfect because of the stripes.

Guardate, mi sono fatta finalmente tagliare i capelli! Erano orribili prima… Comunque, in questo ultimo giorno di Me-Made-May’13 ho voluto vestirmi il più possibile con vestiti fatti da me, ma non avevo una maglietta pulita adatta a questo mise. E mi sono dimenticata di mettere qualche accessorio mio. Oops.
Gilè ovale di lana (non sono riuscita a finirlo in tempo per questo ultimo giorno. Mancano sia il bottone che un abbellimento che pensavo di metterci. Nel frattempo l’ho fissato con questa spilla.)

Look, I finally got my hair cut! It looked awful before… Anyway, this last day of Me-Made-Me ’13 I wanted to wear as many me-mades as possible, but I didn’t have a clean shirt that fit in with this outfit. And I forgot to put in an accessory or two of mine. Oops.
