L’Unione Europea a fine Novembre avvio’ un’inchiesta antitrust contro Google per abuso di posizione dominante quale motore di ricerca. Pochi giorni fa in un’intervista pubblicata da The Sunday Telegraph, Eric Schmidt (presidente del consiglio di amministrazione di Google) ha dichiarato che Google vorrebbe trovare un accordo con l’autorita’ di regolamentazione dell’UE:
“I think it is in our interests and I would hope in their interests to do a quick analysis of concerns that have been raised by competitors, hopefully they are minor or they are not correct, and we’ll find out and make sure we are operating well within the law and the spirit of the law.”
L’accusa mossa e’ Google e’ anche quella di avvantaggiare i propri servizi nelle ricerche a danno dei servizi della concorrenza.
Intanto sembra che non ci siano trattative (e probabilmente non ce ne saranno neppure a breve), infattiAmelia Torres (portavoce della commissione) ha dichiarato che:
“As is known, the commission is conducting an in-depth market investigation and is still awaiting replies. We will not prejudge the outcome of the market investigation and of this case,”
Nonostante le speranze di Eric Schmidt di concludere in fretta la faccenda, sembra proprio che ci vorra’ ancora del tempo.
