Occasion dresses and how to wear them
When you want to look your best for a special occasion it can be tough to find the look that really works for you. We’ve all been there; you show your outfit to your friends, they tell you it’s fantastic but you still don’t feel as beautiful as you should. Lack of confidence can affect your enjoyment of the day itself and leave you feeling out of the party spirit. But dressing for a big event needn’t be stressful if you understand a few basic rules of dressing perfectly for any occasion.
Cocktails and birthdaysIt’s often difficult to gauge how “dressed up” a cocktail party might be but for a foolproof solution that’s not going to leave you feeling out of place look for simple occasion dresses with delicate patterns. Stripes and florals really work well on these occasions. As well as being at the height of fashion, they both manage to look glamorous and modern at the same time. Solid colours are somewhat traditional, so it’s best to pick out something with a fun edge. You can always dress it down with a cardigan or a shawl if you need to.Dinner partiesFor dinner parties with a large number of guests that are taking place in a formal location, such as a restaurant or event hall, opt for something classic.Occasion dresses in red, black or even white with some simple jewellery are a fantastic way to make a vintage inspired statement and stand out in the crowd for all the right reasons. A chiffon dress looks gorgeous for wedding receptions. To dress this look down a little try pairing it with delicate ballet shoes.Theatre and showsFor a truly special night of glitz and glam, then there’s still nothing that can top the little black dress: the only item on the fashion scene that truly never goes out of fashion. To really work this look with style try pinning up your hair to show off your neckline. Team this with some sparkly shoes and make it a night to remember. Be careful when choosing accessories. Although the little black dress compliments almost everything you don’t want to over do it. It is better to go minimal for this look. Try a simple string of pearls for that timeless look or you may even want to wear no necklace at all and let the dress do all the talking.
