Painting of the week - Secret accusation

Il dipinto di oggi appartiene ad uno dei miei pittori favoriti, Francesco Hayez,  autorevolissimo esponente italiano del romanticismo storico, celebre per aver inserito all'interno dei suoi dipinti simbologie dal carattere politico stemperate da sentimenti umani, visivamente palpabili.
Nell' "Accusa segreta" realizzato tra il 1847 e il 1848- Il primo di un trittico con il quale l'autore vuole studiare e descrivere i temi della vendetta e della delazione all'interno dei rapporti sentimentali - egli, raffigura Maria, una giovane donna dalla rara bellezza, che si mostra in tutta la sua rabbia e nella tensione del momento che la travolge, spingendola a compiere, sotto consiglio dell'amica Rachele (raffigurata nel correlato dipinto "Consiglio alla vendetta"), un gesto di ripicca nei confronti dell'amante infedele, attraverso la denuncia dell'uomo agli inquisitori di Stato.
Lo scenario è quello di Palazzo Ducale e di una Venezia soleggiata ed opprimente: se pur nella perfezione architetturale e nella sua magnificenza, la prima cosa che si avverte nel dipinto è l'inquietudine della donna e forse l'ultimo terribile pensiero che essa  rivolge al suo amato; lo sguardo è sfuggente, ma il velo di tulle nero, scuro come il suo animo, mostra liberamente il suo volto e le sue emozioni, finalità principale dell'opera stessa.
L'abito sembra essere di un verde chiaro e luminoso, ma l'ombra se ne impossessa rendendolo subito fosco e misterioso. La mano con la quale la giovane solleva parte del vestito scompare sotto il tessuto, quasi a significare l'impercettibilità del suo atteggiamento, il dubbio, l'attesa di cosa essa si appresti a compiere. Nell'altra mano, ben visibile, stringe la denuncia scritta, mentre dall'abito si intravede il seno nudo che sfoga dal corpetto. Con ogni probabilità, il fatto che la ragazza sia disadorna e la nudità in una condizione di abbigliamento ricercato e ricco di accessori, rivela la natura miserevole della donna, precipitata ancor più in basso dopo aver ceduto alla tentazione della vendetta e del cattivo consiglio.
Il suo cuore equivale ormai a quello della persona colpevole del tradimento.
Molto interessante nell'ambito di questi tre dipinti, i versi e le opere letterarie dell'amico di Hayez, il poeta Andrea Maffei, che negli stessi anni si ispira a questi ultimi per la composizione di alcune opere relative ai medesimi temi di amore e vendetta ivi descritti con incredibile parallelismo ed affinità.
Today painting belongs to one of my favorite painters, Francesco Hayez , one of the greatest exponents of Italian famous historical romance, famous to insert inside his paintings political symbolism tempered by human and visually palpable feelings. In the" Secret accusation" painted between 1847 and 1848 - The first of a triptych with which the author wants to study and describes the themes of revenge within romantic relationships - he portrays Mary, a young woman of rare beauty, which is displayed in all its anger and tension of the moment that overwhelms her , pushing her to do, under the advice of her friend Rachel ( depicted in the related painting " Board of revenge" ) , an act of revenge against her unfaithful lover, through she denounces the man to the state inquisitors. The scenario is that Palazzo Ducale in the sunny and oppressive Venice, although in its perfection and in its architectural magnificence, the first thing you see in the painting is the concern of the woman and perhaps the last terrible thought that she addresses to his beloved, her look is elusive, but the black veil, dark as her soul, freely show her face and emotions, probably the principal purpose of the work. The dress seems to be a light and bright green, but the shadow making it immediately takes it dark and mysterious. The hand with which the young raises the dress disappears beneath the fabric, as if to signify the subtlety of her attitude, the doubt, the expectation of what she is going to accomplish. In the other hand , clearly visible , while shaking written complaint Gown you can see the bare breasts that pours from the bodice of her dress . In all likelihood , the fact that the girl is unadorned and nudity in a state of fine clothing and rich accessories, reveals the nature of the miserable woman, fallen even further down after having succumbed to the temptation of revenge and bad advice. Her heart is now equivalent to that of the person guilty of treason.
Very interesting in the context of these three paintings, the poems and literary works by Hayez friend , the poet Andrea Maffei , who in the same year was inspired by the latter to compose some related works facing themes of love and revenge described herein with amazing parallels and affinities.
