Painting of the week: Veranda overlooking the garden in the summer

Oggi  è il turno di un autore realista, fortemente influenzato dai colori e dalle tecniche impressioniste, che proviene dagli ambienti altolocati della Germania nei primi del 900: August von Brandis.Insignito di numerose medaglie e riconoscimenti illustri quali mostre d'arte, antiche confraternite e dall'Imperatore Guglielmo II, si distinse particolarmente nel campo del disegno e dei dipinti, anche attraverso la sua fervente carriera universitaria, che gli valse successo e fama in tutta la Baviera. Le sue opere, pregne delle ispirazioni impressionistiche, raffigurano meravigliosi paesaggi e salotti luminosi e ricchi di dettagli affascinanti, anche se non ha disdegnato soggetti di carattere religioso. Ciò che però mi ha subito colpito, è stata la sua propensione verso i punti luce e le finestre, soggetti enigmatici ed incredibilmente interessanti, a parer mio.La semplicità di un dettaglio scontato e quotidiano, conserva e cela significati e sentimenti diversi.La serenità di un ambiente riflette, come nella realtà anche quella della famiglia che vi risiede ed in effetti il pittore era solito ritrarre anche la sua stessa dimora e le persone che amava, proprio per trasmettere queste emozioni.In quest'opera infatti Von Brandis ritrae la finestra che affaccia sul suo giardino, un soggetto non nuovo alla sua attenzione: egli la analizza ed osserva più volte, coinvolgendo anche alcune figure femminili, con ogni probabilità, a lui molto vicine. Anche stavolta si tratta di un autore non molto conosciuto in Europa, ma assolutamente meritevole di attenzione data la bellezza ed autenticità dei suoi dipinti. 
I quadri in cui è possibile percepire la bellezza da oggetti apparentemente banali o facili da osservare, sono fra i più belli, proprio perché essi hanno la capacità di agevolare quest'ultima e renderla evidente all'osservatore.La luce è uno degli elementi più belli che vi siano in natura, che rende ogni cosa diversa a seconda di come essa si orienti. Un giardino diventa uno sfondo idilliaco ed una veranda diviene il prezioso strumento di accesso a questo incantevole mondo.
Today is the turn of a realist author, strongly influenced by impressionist colors and techniques, which come from environments in high places in Germany in the early XX century: August von Brandis.Awarded many medals and awards from art exhibitions, ancient brotherhoods and the Emperor Wilhelm II, he was distinguished especially in the field of drawing and painting, through his fervent college career, which earned him success and fame all over Bavaria.His works, imbued impressionistic inspirations, depict beautiful landscapes and living rooms bright and full of fascinating details, even if he did not disdain religious subjects.But what immediately struck me was his propensity towards lights and windows, enigmatic and incredibly interesting subjects, in my opinion.The simplicity of a trivial and daily detail preserves hidden meanings and different feelings.The serenity of an environment reflects infact, as in reality also that of the family that lives in that place and this is why the painter used to portray even his own home and people he loved, just to convey these emotions.In fact, this work portrays Von Brandis window that overlooks his garden, a subject not new to his attention: he analyzes and observes it several times, involving female figures, probably very close to him.Again this is an author not well known in Europe, but definitely worthy of attention given the beauty and authenticity of his paintings.The workss in which you can feel the beauty of seemingly common or easy to observe, are among the most beautiful, because they have the ability to introduce and make them obvious to the observer.Light is one of the most interesting elements that we can find in nature, that makes everything different depending on how it is oriented. A garden is an idyllic backdrop and a veranda can become the precious instrument of access to this enchanting world.
