Con la corsa per il titolo ormai praticamente finita l’attenzione questo weekend si è spostata verso la corsa per i posti in Champions League con il Tottenham fare un grande passo in avanti in tal senso sconfiggendo gli accaniti rivali dell’Arsenal per 2-1 al White Hart Lane domenica, lasciando i Gunners a 5 punti di distanza dalla 4° piazza, con ambizioni di risalita per un posto in Champions rimandato alla prossima stagione, avendo permesso a Bale e Lennon di segnare appena prima dell’intervallo con l’Arsenal mai in grado di recuperare nonostante Mertesacker segnasse un gol nel secondo tempo; gli Spurs restano al 3° posto, appena 2 punti dietro la 2° piazza.
Il Chelsea è tornato alla vittoria con uno stretto 1-0 casalingo contro il West Brom grazie a Demba Ba ma resta 4°, 2 punti dietro agli Spurs.
L’Everton resta nella contesa con una confortevole vittoria 3-1 casalinga contro il Reading e sono soltanto 2 punti dietro l’Arsenal in &à posizione mentre il Reading resta 19°.
Il Liverpool continua a migliorare dopo un impressionante 4-0 che demolisce il Wigan al DW Stadium con ancora una tripletta di Luis Suarez, restando al 7° posto col Wigam al 17°.
Lo Swansea supera di misura il Newcastle per 1-0 al Liberty Stadium muovendosi all’8° posto davanti al West Brom, col Newcastle in discesa al 15°.
Sunderland e Fulham hanno disputato un divertente 2-2 allo Stadium of Light, con Sessegnon pareggiare verso la fine della partita per il Sunderland muovendo la classifica verso la 14° piazza e il Fulham verso la 10°.
Il Norwich resta 13esimo dopo essere diventato l’ultima vittima del Manchester United per 4-0 all’Old Trafford, con Shinji Kagawa autore di una tripletta, risultato che lascia lo United 15 punti al sicuro dal Manchester City che si sposterà in casa dell’Aston Villa nella partita di lunedì sera: un punto per il Villa li solleverebbe dalla terzultima posizione.
Il West Ham ha pescato una rara vittoria esterna per 1-0 ai danni dello Stoke City grazie al gol di Jack Collison che solleva gli Hammers al 12° posto; lo Stoke scende all’undicesimo.
In fondo classifica il QPR si concede uno spiraglio di vita con una vittoria per 2-1 a Southampton restando a malapena in contatto con la salvezza sebbene rimanga a 4 punti di distanza, col Southampton ora appena 3 punti sopra la zona retrocessione in 16° piazza.
Il prossimo fine settimana vedrà un programma impoverito a causa dei quarti di finale della FA Cup, col QPR ospitare il Sunderland, il Liverpool ospitare gli Spurs e il Reading incontrare l’Aston Villa.

Chelsea got back to winning ways with a tight 1-0 home win over West Brom thanks to Demba Ba but stay 4th 2 points behind Spurs. Everton stayed in contention with a comfortable 3-1 home win over reading and are just 2 points behind Arsenal in 6th, Reading stay 19th. Liverpool continue to improve after an impressive 4-0 demolition of Wigan at the Dw stadium with yet another hat trick from Luis Suarez and are 7th , wigan stay 17th.
