Rivulets - Rivulets (2002)

(ITA) Rivulets è Nathan Amundson, ed il suo album omonimo è il miglior debutto del decennio '00. La sua musica è dark quanto le opere degli Swans, eppure limpida e malinconica quanto una canzone di Nick Drake: un folk scheletrico che si sostiene su pochi accordi di chitarra. E' impressionante come una canzone semplice come Creased possa risultare così coinvolgente. Gli arrangiamenti minimali (come il glockenspiel di Four weeks) fanno assurgere ad assoluta protagonista la voce d'angelo di Amundson, che declama le sue poesie in maniera tanto evocativa da sembrare quasi sovrannaturale.

(ENG) Rivulets is Nathan Amundson, and his self-titled album is the best debut of the '00 decade. His music is dark as the Swans, but brilliant and melancholy as a song by Nick Drake: a skeletal folk that claims itself on a few guitar chords. It 'amazing how a simple song as Creased can be so compelling. Thanks to the minimalist arrangements (such as the glockenspiel Four weeks) the angel voice of Amundson becomes the absolute protagonist; he recites his poems in a way so evocative that it seems almost supernatural.4/5
