Scontri al G20: oltre 400 arresti

E’ di 3 feriti e oltre 400 arresti il bilancio del primo giorno di scontri tra  i Black bloc e la polizia al G20 di Toronto. Mentre i leader si riunivano nella città canadese una piccola frangia dei 10.000 manifestanti pacifici ha messo e ferro e fuoco il centro della città. Cinque auto della polizia sono state date alle fiamme e decine di vetrine sono state distrutte. La polizia è intervenuta con gas lacrimogeni e l’uso di grandi pallottole di plastica. I dimostranti hanno anche distrutto diverse vetrine, prendendo di mira una banca e una caffetteria Starbucks. Anche due veicoli di due reti tv sono stati danneggiati. La polizia in assetto antisommossa ha indossato le maschera anti gas per prepararsi all’eventuale aggravarsi degli scontri.  In precedenza alcuni giovani con il volto coperto da un cappuccio nero avevano staccato pezzi di cemento dalle barriere che delimitavano il percorso della marcia. Teatro degli scontri è stato il quartiere finanziario di Toronto.

The police intervened with tear gas and the use of large plastic bullets. Demonstrators also destroyed several windows, targeting a bank and a Starbucks coffee shop. Two vehicles with two TV networks have been damaged. The riot police wore the anti-gas mask to prepare for possible escalation of the clashes. Previously, some young people with their faces covered by a black hood had removed pieces of concrete barriers that define the path of travel. Theatre of the clashes was the financial district of Toronto.
